Good for them, though "renewals" are really a whole different animal than new applications. Many of use who filed for new ones in the first couple days, are sitting on appointments scheduled for next March and April. GC is not the issue. I'll refrain from a "way to go" comment until we see how they deal with this increase in volume. I'm cautiously optimistic, but not happy yet. -
I don’t renew for little while, hope there is no added BS by then. Wish I was renewing now.Leave a comment:

WOW!!!!!! Such hostility and you don't even know me. I want to get my renewal, not aggravate them.
I got this today...
Good morning,
Your request for the renewal of your CCW permit has been received.
Your application has been placed in an appointment queue to be processed and your permit will be mailed to the address listed on your application. If there are ANY changes to your application, please notify our office via email at ccw@sdsheriff.org.
We are mailing all permits as close to the expiration date as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact us at 858-974-2020 or ccw@sdsheriff.org.
Sincerely,
Miranda Kurtz

The SD Sheriff's site says they do initial CCW interviews M-F, clearly that is not true since the only available interview dates are on Mondays... I emailed them and I was told new CCWs is only on Monday, Thurs/Fri for renewals and Tues/Wed for other licenses and other office business.
Per SDCGO, they have added in more days of the week, not that I can see
As of today, the next open apt is mid May 2023 and each day or so it moves out another week.
These delay tactics are by choice, my brother walked into his local office (Washington State), filled out the form, paid his fee, got he CCW in the mail 7-10 days
It is also my understand that some sheriffs in CA are issuing permits with only four requirements...Must be 21, must live in the county, pass the background check, and take the class. That's how it should be everywhere. But it's probably going to get worse before it gets better. Once the state updates the CCW requirements, there will likely be more requirements that sheriffs must adhere to.Leave a comment:

I was contemplating self defense, then figured I'd just use what I used before. Like you said, I'm pretty sure they won't even consider what is written there.Leave a comment:

Filled out my renewal form today. I was a bit surprised to find the good cause "requirement" on the second page. I just used what I used for my initial. It's obviously generic as the form mentions picking up the permit, even though I believe SDC mails out the permit.Leave a comment:
