That seems normal. It was the same or my renewal. It seems to me that SDSO does not really use the scheduling features of Pentium to do their internal schedule maintenance, but rather to collect applications and supporting documents and then handle it internally from there.

+1. Have him get his app in immediately at the 90 day mark. And expect them to take the full 90 days...maybe a little more.

Also, if he submits utility bills for his proof of residency, expect them to ask for updated copies just prior to the interview...since his bills will be 90 days old at that point. They hit me with this request late in the afternoon the day before my appointment. Note too that he doesn't have to wait to be asked for this. He can just upload new bills once he's close to the appointment date.

We all know the whole "good cause" thing is BS. But with that said, I would say they are not super tough with it as long as you follow the advice by SD County Gun Owners. Your best bet for good cause is always going to be something that is work related or that you have a credible threat against you. But it is VERY possible to get a permit with a good cause along the lines of recreating (hiking, camping, off roading) in remote parts of the county where cell service is sketchy and police response time would be delayed.

Read up on the info at SDCGO, and then you can ask here where you have questions. SDCGO also has a monthly on-line seminar which can be very helpful.

Also do your best to get your application into the system as quickly as you can as this is what starts the clock. Don't be discouraged if initial appointments are way out in the future. The Sheriff's office is working through the backlog caused by the plague so you should see improvement on scheduling.

Yes, but it is a dress belt. It seems to lack the stiffness of the Kore. It acts like any other dress belt, but with the click-type buckle.

Your renewal application, as well as your training qualification, must list all the guns you want on your permit, not just new ones. If you are thinking of acquiring something new, now is the time. You can generally contact the office to add any new ones to your application up to the point where you do your qualification.

Documentation is the big thing more so than any strict good cause.
So spend the most time on that, have someone at one of the seminars
look it over first, or you can email it to SDCGO first and they will look at it. Again think of things you can document, maybe it will take a little time to build up some documentation if you haven't done so. Or think out of the box, maybe you have old emails planning shooting trips to remote areas, reciepts for expensive equipment/guns you take to remote areas, if job related it can be easier. But try for not job related if possible as you can lose your job and then lose you CCW justification.

Last question, I’m going to add a firearm to my permit, do I need to re-list all firearms on the new form or only the firearm I am adding?

I will have to relist on permittium anyway , correct?

    Start Here:

There is a wealth of guidance and information. The basic GC standard in San Diego is you have to be able to prove there is something that puts you at greater risk than the average citizen. Emphasis on the word "prove". Any claim you make without some sort of proof is basically useless.

They are probably already planning how to erect new obstacles and make things more difficult after we get a favorable ruling from SCOTUS in the current v. Corlett.
