Well I got just over 2 months until I hit 21. I have been doing lots of research lately and have fondled plenty of 1911's since my original post. I am still very interested in the Springfield GI but Rock Island 1911's has also caught my eye... well, actually the price has. Everybody that works behind the counter tells me to stay away from RIA 1911's (I figure they just want me to spend more). Oddly enough, everyone that owns a RIA 1911 says nothing but good things about 'em.

I am also toying with the idea of getting a H&K USP 40. I LOVE USP's and it would be great to have another 40 cal to give my XD40 some company. I already have a USP Expert .45 and Glock 21 so the idea of getting another .45 (the 1911) seems kinda foolish.

But, the way I see it, I cant go wrong either way.
      Dear California,
I love you. I was born and raised in you. You have given me some of the best times of my life. Now with that said, I can not wait to move!

sign up for school to get california guard.
get handgun safety cert. just in case, didnt ask me

then sign up for exposed firearm class. only problem was they couldnt loan a gun to me or ammo. so i asked my neighbor to let me borrow. he is a cop. thats it.

guys at gun shop have me a hard time. thought i had to be 21 to even get hsc., but his son went online and proved me right.

                if any doubts, please explain

I think it is funny how you have to be 21 to be on the receiving end of a PPT or dealer sale of a handgun but you can be 18 years of age or up to engage in armed security. This poster is correct, with his proper certifications/classes, he is legally allowed to carry the firearm in the caliber he qualified with. The issue is having someone to buy handgun ammunition for you.

Nothing more embarrassing than having my mommy buy ammo for me . Of course I can just buy my 9mm ammo for my 9mm AR15. All 18-20 year olds have 9mm rifles, right?

Its easy when I just say I need some 9mm ammo for my AR15 with an 9mm Olympic Arms conversion upper. They usually go talk the their supervisor and come back and say "How much do you need?"

Thats what I would like to do but who knows if I'll be able to find what Im looking for or if I'll even have the cash at the time. I can sell my school textbooks back now and hope I dont waste it on any more needless AR accessories.

Turning 21 early next year and getting either a .357 snub revolver, or a Glock 26. Something to have when I apply for the CCW later on
