    Transfer from washington to california

My brother is in the military and lives in washington state. Hes planning on visiting me soon in california and has a glock 19 that he wants to sell me (purchased in wa as le/military sale). Just wanted to know if there is any difference between le/military and civilian glocks that would prohibit me from completing a ppt. Thank you.

Glock calls it the "blue label" program. I am not aware of subsequent ppt restrictions, but I haven't reviewed the rules recently.

Don't forget that that your brother can't bring the standard capacity mags into the PRK; you'll need to buy neutered mags.

    Reloading Clubs: SF, East Bay

Case Status: (Handgun Roster). SF v. 44Mag (Mag Parts Kits). Bauer v. Harris (DROS Fees). Davis v. LA (CCW policy). Jackson v. SF (Ammo/Storage). Teixeira (FFL Zoning). First Unitarian v. NSA (Privacy). Silvester (Waiting Period). Schoepf (DROS Delay). Haynie (AW ban). SFVPOA v. SF (10+ mag possession ban). Bear in Public: Drake (3CA); Moore (7CA); Richards, Peruta, McKay (9CA).

      First...
The differences beteen Mil/LE Glocks are civilian Glocks...
Blue label (Gov/Mil/LE/Fire/GSSF) = comes with three standard capacity magazines for full sized/compact sized & two standard capacity magazines for subcompact sized.
Red lablel (civilian) = comes with two standard capacity magazines
White label (civilian) = comes with two 10 round or less magazines.

It is not legal for your brother to import or transfer any large capacity magazines to you.

So, prior to arriving in CA, your brother will need to replace the standard capacity (15 round) Glock 19 magazines with 10 round Glock 19 magazines.

      Second...
Because your brother is a resident of another state, the transfer will not be a PPT.
Therefore, the handgun must be on the CA DOJ Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.
The Glock 19 (gen 2-3), Glock 19C (gen 3) & Glock 19 OD are on the Roster and can be transfered to you.
The Glock 19Gen4, Glock 19RTF2 & Glock 19 FDE are not on the Roster and can not be transfered to you.

      Third...
Because this is not a PPT, the CA FFL dealer can legally charge any amount of money to facilitate this transfer. (prices run from $50-150 + DROS)
So, shop around for a good CA FFL dealer prior to your brother arriving to CA.

      Summary...
      1. No large capacity magazines.
      2. The Glock 19 must be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be modified to be exempt from the Roster (SSE).
      3. Not a PPT, will cost more money to do.

Unless he is provably a resident of CA - CA-DL, CA-ID, Military ID with PCS orders to CA - the sale will not be a CA PPT. Rather, it will be an interstate transfer.

That being so, the G19 has to be a model on the Roster - if it's Gen4, that's a no-go.

        Gen4 on the left.

You could 'single shot exempt' a Gen4, if you go to the right FFL.
