those are legal in CA. Items just like that have been been imported, bought, or had made in CA legally.

that would be badass, to have an AOW listed on your CCW permit. Hard for the beat cop to argue that it is illegal when his department allowed it to be listed on the CCW.

Where is the mega AOW thread. I think I need to start getting into the SOT business. We need a north of LA source.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Right now, with a PG-only host gun, you could file a Form 1 and get approval from ATF to make your own. But soon, you may be able to walk into OC armory and just have him start the paperwork for you to buy one on a Form 4.

I think it is time for me to get a SOT. The new fiscal year starts July 1. That is when I will apply.

The nice thing about transfering one instead of manufacturing is that it is a $5 transfer tax instead of the $200 to manufacture.

plus the resale value of a factory made AOW is probably better than that of a "Joe Blow Revocable Living Trust" made AOW. But that then brings up the question of, will you PPT an AOW for $35

                Mike,

Will you do Form 4 transfers for items not in stock? Out of State AOW's or C&R SBS/SBR's that are otherwise exempt from CA AW laws? Out of State Fed NFA, non-CA DD firearms like the .55" Boys Rifles and 14.5mm Russian rifles that ke6guj mentioned?

Will you accept Out of State Form 3/Form 4 transfers and facilitate Form 4 transfers? If so, how much will you charge? Or at this point are you just doing Form 4 transfers from your own stock?

Either way, thanks for dealing with the public.

                .

unfortunately, I have misspoke when I said that an SOT can transfer .51"-60" DDs. As far as I know, in order to deal with DDs on a regular basis, they must be an 09FFL (NFA destructive device dealer) or a 10FFL (NFA DD manufacturer) , which costs $3000/3years, in addition to the SOT. But, I've heard that since basically nobody has an 09FFL or 10FFL, they'll allow an 01FFL to make occasional DD transfers, without having to have the 09FFL or 10FFL. Expecially since there is only ONE 09FFL in the state of CA and less than twenty 10FFLs in the state. And I wonder how many of them would even be willing to transfer a DD to a private citizen.

Yeah, I agree. I would venture to say none of the twenty 09/10 FFL's would be willing to transfer a DD to a private citizen. The one 09 FFL is some sort of law enforcement training consultant. Of the nineteen 10 FFL's, they are either providing firearms to the movie industry (with the "need" to stay in DOJ's good graces to maintain their Dangerous Weapons Permits) or defense contractors. In any case, it doesn't look good for John Q Public for NFA DD's.

This is a another reason OC Armory deserves big props for getting their 03 SOT and dealing with the public with AOW's.

One more reason to visit OC Armory... Pity they're far though, even though the trip is worth it. It's one of the best gun stores I've dealt with.

We will be handling any NFA item transfers you need. Right now it looks like we are going to charge $100 to walk you through the form 4. Anything coming from out of state is needs to either come to me on a form 3 or 4 and then it can go to you on a form 4. As mentioned above I don't currently plan on doing DD's. I just don't think it would make enough money. PS we are hoping to have Keg 12's and super shorties by the end of the month.

i think telling us he got his SOT is just damning a whole lot of people to being in trouble with their significant other if anything LOL
I think it's worth it to have an attorney do it and set up successor trustees (brothers, sisters, sons, daughters) in case you die. That way your descendants can use/possess the AOW assuming they have no criminal record or age restrictions prohibiting them from possessing the AOW.

I'm a trustee of my family trust and it's set up this way.

Now, would I be able to get a transferable Benelli M1 Entry Gun from out of state?

probably. I've never seen a factory Benelli AOW offered for sale, or PG-only host gun offered from Benelli that could be AOW'ed
