Again, that's what your own industry pushed for. Even then, the CA FFLs had to be smart enough to understand that they would be dealing with PPTs instead of other customers. Personally, every FFL I do business with is happy if I do a PPT at their shop. Many times, it results in another immediate sale or two for them and also brings in new potential customers. How much do you PAY for advertising per actual potential customer that crosses your threshold? Every PPT requires THREE potential customers to enter your shop and PAY YOU for the privilege.

FFLs can beetch all they want about having to charge extra fees for PPTs. Fact is you can't prevent me from taking my business to an FFL that doesnt charge extra fees. So dont act all butthurt when I do. You made a business decision and I made a consumer decision in response. Own the results.
All the FFLs I know that charge extra fees, also treat PPT customers like second class citizens. The FFLs that dont charge extra fees treat PPT customers as if they just bought $10k worth of merchandise. Coincidence? I think not. Charging extra fees is just a sign the FFL doesnt think much of their customers or their local 2A community.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 03-23-2023, 3:33 PM.CRPA and NRA member.

Your problem is simple though, the less CA FFL's can make to stay open, the less decisions you get on who to go to. Like is said, I don't charge any extra fees but many smaller, brick and mortar FFL's in less populated areas need every dime to stay operative. When they disapear, all you will have is big box stores who can lobby to get prices raised, have less service and will then dictate the market for cost of guns.Comment

This is why it's encouraged to do more business with FFLs that are helpful.Socialist thinking, borderline communist.

Personally, if an FFL does well by me, I purchase more items and return for more business. I'll buy a few hundred dollars worth of ammo when picking up my firearms, or even return to purchase firearms from their counter.
If an FFL tacks on "fees" or "service charges" or claims to need to charge each DROS in a multi gun PPT transaction (my recent interaction with AO Sword in El Cajon), then I avoid them and let my wallet speak.
That's why these small shops disappear. They try to take advantage of their customer base. Trying to justify their "fees" because they need money to stay open doesn't change the fact that it's wrong. Many single shop brick and mortar FFLs have survived without needing to tack on extra charges. If they want more money, they should take care of their customer base.Comment

There?s a lot of FFLs that can?t increase their customer base. Many rural stores are limited by population and may even be the only game in town. This is why it's encouraged to do more business with FFLs that are helpful.

I understand there?s a lot of self serving customers here and that?s fine and again, we charge zero extra fees. When that local business decides to close and now your only choice is 35-40 miles away, you just got charged $25 for gas
Many stores need the local support to stay open and pay an employee or two. Many don?t assess the situation.Comment

Haha, call somebody a communist/socialist if you don't like what they say. LOL.
Nothing I said is communist/socialist. Its capitalist if anything. I choose to go to certain FFLs based on what the best deal is for me as the consumer. Thats just free market capitalism also known as competition.
Its funny that an FFL business doesn't even know when something is capitalist or communist/socialist. No wonder some FFLs go out of business. Its just bad management decisions.
I doubt any FFL ever went out of business because of too many PPTs or stayed in business only because they charged extra fees for PPTs. Thats a load of crap.
Most likely they went out of business simply because their local gun market was just too competitive or there wasn't enough demand for firearms to stay in business.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 03-23-2023, 7:25 PM.CRPA and NRA member.

Somewhat. You pushing a law that California made up in order to force private sales into an FFL is typical Socialist/communist California.Haha, call somebody a communist/socialist if you don't like what they say. LOL.

You?re using 2A suppressive laws to support your demands. Basically you have no clue what you?re actually endorsingComment

No, you?re crying about FFL?s and fees. I?m saying you?re whining over possible fees for a service, FFL PPT?s that shouldn?t even need to be done. Private Party transfers should be just that with no need for an FFL
If you?re gonna direct your complaints to anyone it should be the politicians who push this crap on people and FFL?s. That way FFL?s CAN spend more time on their actual business of selling guns, ammo and accessories. NOT doing the States BS dirty work.Comment

According to you, somehow my decision to go to an FFL that doesn't charge extra fees for PPTs equates me to supporting CA PPT laws and makes me a communist. Yeah you lost me there.CRPA and NRA member.

Haha! You were lost the minute I splained this. You have no idea what you?re talking about or the issue at hand.
You?re literally complaining about a law imposed on FFL?s only in CA and using that to cry about some extra charge. What you should be doing is telling the politicians you?ve had enough and demand that they provide a free way to PPT with a free background check and let the government handle that transaction and not burden FFL?s with having to do any of it.Comment

I?m not arguing. I?m telling you how it is.
FFL?s see people like you everyday. Until you ever decide to understand the business, you won?t get it.
Believe me, there?s FFLs reading this and get it and rolling their eyes because we deal with people with your ideology often. We usually smile and nod and accept it for what it is. 😊Comment

"Ideology"? Haha, really? It's pretty simple. Some FFLs charge extra fees to perform PPTs on top of the state mandated fees. Some FFLs do not. Obviously it's their decision for whatever reason. It's also my decision as a consumer to go to the FFLs that don't charge extra fees. Why would I pay more for nothing? It makes no sense. It's a stupid simple decision on my part, pay less or pay more? Why pay more if I don't have to and get better service from the FFLs that don't charge extra fees and also seem to know what they are doing? You're getting all butthurt because you can't force me to pay you more and you can't prevent me from going to an FFL that doesn't charge extra fees. Thats retarded. And it certainly doesn't sound like free market capitalism.I?m not arguing. I?m telling you how it is.
