To me, It looks like the DOJ "clarified" agencies and left individual officers alone. Military members are still not exempt.

ie... if your dept wanted to group buy a limited edition engraved off roster 1911 from STI. Since it is not a duty it would not be allowed as an agency purchase.

It contains two words agency and officer.

a pretty decent size of my off roster customers are probation officers so since they're not listed I canot sell them off roster pistols anymore, or am I wrong? they are sworn peace officers with a pc832 and work as full time law enforcement?

What about DA investigators or DA employees?

What the hell is a "sworn member"?

It's technically different than a "sworn peace officer"

Did PC32000(b)4 change recently? This "new" notice appears to just be an exact copy of what looks like the existing penal code.

Is there a resource online to search the history of the PC to see if it changed recently?

How about you just call your field rep and run it by him before you get locked into a possible violation?

yes for the most part. The ones here in our area are part of the county basically through the sheriff department but they're their own separate entity... just found this out today

Probation Officers work for the local county. Parole Officers work for CDCR.

I have Probation Officer customers as well. The way I read the letter, since they are not listed they cannot purchase.

What department do probation officers work under? Could it be the Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation? Or perhaps some other dept. listed?

In California, ALL probation officers work for their respective county probation department, such as Los Angeles County Probation Department or Sacramento County Probation Department. In Ventura County, all probation officers work for the Ventura County Probation Agency. It is not a part of the sheriff's department. They have their own chief and all of the probation officers are considered deputy probation officers.

CDCR is a completely different agency and is state level (versus probation which is county level). To sum it up, no probation officers work for CDCR. Some folks confuse probation (run at the county level) and parole (run at the state level).

parole would be state and probation would be local county in my experience.
