Yep call that number and you can ask them anything.. They will even tell you who your field agent is and give you their direct line if they don't know the answer..

Iv called a few time and gotten a machine.. I'd ether call a few minutes later or the following day and I get a hold of someone. They have been nothing but extremely nice so far

Also I spoke to a DOJ field rep about what a sworn member is in relation to the DA's office since I have a family member that is a domestic violence trial assistant at the DAs office.

She said they need to show some identification that the are sworn in and it will usually show on their badge or ID card.

She said trial assistants are not sworn members.

Pretty much the customer will know if they have been sworn in or not.

Iv also had a Calfire sworn peace officer buy a few off roster handguns from me.. It was before the letter.. I guess they are a no go now
DA Investigators are what you're looking for. They have a broad level of functions and can go over state lines to apprehend fugitives who have committed crimes in CA. Generally, they handle the police work after the DA's office has taken over a case and work in conjunction with the local agency on the case.

CAL Fire Bomb and Arson Investigators are for sure off the table based on the PC. CAL Fire's Office of the State Marshal's sworn members are still up for discussion. Waiting on confirmation from our field rep this week as the "hot line" refused to define what a "Marshal" or "Marshal's Office" was and referred us to our field rep.

                      Bumping this back up.

Our DOJ Field Rep stated that the definition of "Marshal" in PC 32000 was for US Marshals Service only.

Now why would CA DOJ specifically list a Federal LEA with the CA LEAs when USMS is already covered in the Federal LEA portion? This answer omits the 3 county Marshal's offices and any sworn Fire Marshals in CA.

She would not answer those inquiries and continued to say, "Only US Marshals."
