Many Jews do believe in HaOlam HaBa, "the world to come".
As for Jesus, the Jewish sages knew about him but unfortunately the Jews of Jesus's time did not receive him since they only wanted the King Messiah (Son of David), Not the suffering Messiah (Son of Joseph) who must come first and die. Eventually a shadow of this knowledge was written down in the Talmud after the destruction of Jerusalem. Look up Sukkah 52a, Messiah the son of Joseph who is killed for the slaying of the Evil Inclination. "And they shall look upon me because they have thrust him through, and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son"
It's not coincidental that Jesus's adoptive father was named Joseph, but more importantly, his name points us to Joseph of the old testament. Luke 24:44 tells us that the Law (Torah) prophesied about Jesus. Here is an abridged list of thematic parallels.
Joseph:
- was hated and rejected by his brothers,
- was sold for silver into the hands of the Gentiles,
- was falsely accused by an unfaithful wife (the wife of Potifer),
- was condemned to prison
- was raised to the right hand of pharaoh and was the ruler of Egypt.
- was given a Gentile wife,
- was not recognized by his brothers when they come to him since he now looks like an Egyptian ruler.
Likewise Jesus:
- was hated and rejected by his Jewish brothers,
- was sold for silver into the hands of the Gentiles,
- was falsely accused by an unfaithful wife (Judah was called an unfaithful wife by God),
- was condemned to death,
- was raised to the right hand of God,
- The Gentile Christians are called the bride of Christ,
- was & is not recognized by the Jews since he has been made into Jesus the Catholic/Protestant god that looks nothing like the Jewish Messiah...
