I have been wearing a pair of the 5.11 ATAC with zippers for 2 years on patrol, and they have held up just as long as 2 other models of Rocky boots I have worn. They are also far more comfortable and cost less. Maybe I got lucky with this pair.
I have also had good luck with 5.11 pants, a couple of rifle cases, and a Rush 24 backpack. The pants, the Rush 24, and one of the rifle cases have seen a lot of abuse. YMMV.NRA Patron MemberComment

It was an attempt at humor. Thought U meant we should wear zippers because firefighters do. Hence, the "ban" joke. Am I the only one who took it this way? I thought it was funny.
Cool. Apparently someone got my humor.

I love 5.11 products. I wear the TDU pants, the Performance Polos in both short and long sleeve, the Trainer belt, and the Taclite 6" Coyote boots. I've had the boots for a couple of months but they are really comfortable and lightweight.sigpic10mm collectorComment

What boots are comparable to these? I had used 5.11 ATAC 8" or what not for around the same prices. I liked the side zippers and the small boot knife pocket in the back and mine performed fine. I also purchased Bates and another brand or two but I never had any issues with my 5.11. Perhaps there was a bad batch or maybe they changed suppliers for some things? :\

I took gloves right back to the local shop.. new pair ordered for me and was out the door. Had a seem on pants tear and that was replaced too. Right now, I am using their jacket - which I really likeLawyer, but not your lawyer. Posts aren't legal advice.Comment

You mentioned the Nike sfb initially, I have been using them for approx 7 months and the rubber is separating from the upper on both boots on the inside of my foot from the arch to just before the toe. They are super light and comfortable, but talking with some of my coworkers, they have had similar problems. So for comfort, they are great, but their durability is crap...if you still choose to try them out, I think uspatriottactical.com (or soemthjng along those lines) had the best price on them. Hope this helps.
