written test, oral, and pre background check was all done at monterey park for me.

just waiting to hear back from a background investigator
i think its been like almost 2 months since i turned in my background packet
and no word from them yet...

How long did it take them to call you to come turn in your packet? I received my background packet a couple months ago and am waiting for them to call me so I can come turn it in.

step 1 - apply online

step 2 - get a postcard by mail with your date and time to take the written

step 3 - take your written (dress semi business casual). pass? receive an invite for your oral interview and answer several background questions (continue to step 4). fail? go home.

step 4- oral interview (dress formal business). pass? receive a background packet and instructions on what to write your essays about, also what date and time to turn in your packet (continue to step 5). fail? go home.

step 5- turn in your background packet along with your essays (dress semi business casual), answer about another 100 background questions, go home and wait for a phone call (2-5 months)

step 6- get a call from your background investigator and set up a date and time to meet (dress formal business)

written on the front should be the date and time that they want you to turn it in. they give you about 3 weeks. if you have waited several months, you are probably a no-show in their books.

if you passed the oral interview, this was stapled to your oral interview result which was also stapled to your written test result.

Hmm... The Lt I spoke to told me to wait for a call and be patient, and now I am wondering if the process is ruined an I will have to start over. My background packet does not have a date on it.

You should call or email a recruiter. I'm not alone in saying this, after passing interview got a date and time to turn in everything in the background packet. I waited the six weeks and got a call from my investigator and setup a date and time for interview and poly.

I will have to call them first thing Monday morning to see if there was mis communication somewhere along the line, I don't believe recruitment runs during the weekends.

to make things clear. do you still have the 17 page piss YELLOW background packet in your possession that you received after your oral interview? and you've been waiting MONTHS to turn that in?

my packet was required to be submitted BEFORE meeting the background investigator and i was given specific instruction to wait 2-5 months before i get a call from him/her so they can look it over before talking to me.

I did not receive that cover page with a time, so yes I still have my 17 page packet, it's been a little over a month I passed my oral the end of march.

that isn't good. let me give you an idea of how much time they give you. i passed my oral on the 24th of March. my date to turn in the packet, essays, and other required material was the 19th of April. they also give you a check-in time, they will accept you early on the same day though.

LASD hiring process can be slow compare to other Sheriff's Department. Just be patient. I was surprise how fast Riverside County Sheriff's Department hiring process was compare to LASD.

I turned in my background packet on March 29th. Still waiting for my phone call from my BI. Hopefully ill get it sometime this coming week
