    LASD Written Tests April 18th

Finally got the yellow paper sent to me! I'm excited. As far as the written tests go, do I get my results right after? Says to plan to spend about 3-4 hours to complete the exam, does it really take that long?

After the written test, what are the next steps?

It took me less than one hour to finish my test and you will get your result right away.

Pre-background paperwork and after that, your scheduled oral. Have fun.

To pass get a police exam book. Helped me out with exam, interview portion. Both the written and interview result are given on the same day. The most nerve racking day in my life.

Casual business is everything but my coat correct. Also anybody ever take san mateo county's written test. If so what does it entail? And is there anything I should be brushing up on.

If you do pass the test.... prepare to stand by to stand by because I took my written test last August and it took me little over 4 months to meet with my BI. I still have not done my PAT and medical with LASD right now. However, I did my polygraph today and it did not go to well. The examiner had hard time reading my result, but he told me I passed the test at the end of the day.

Wish me luck, I have my psych with Riverside County Sheriff's Department this Thursday. I have been told this is my final step by my investigator.

As far as I remember, the LASD test is grammar and spelling.

No need for that exam book, just relax and do your best.

As an old timer who sat on many interview panels, I'd suggest getting some coaching from someone with panel experience who works for the dept you're applying to. Have them do mock orals for you if possible. They do have a set of questions they normally use, but practice your answers - anything you say can be followed up on, even if it's not part of the normal questioning.
Do your research. Learn as much about the dept as possible. (not just from their website) The more you know about all their bureaus, what they do, and how it all fits together the better. Know what you're part is as a rookie.

                      Good luck.

I'm taking the written test tomorrow as well. I'm kind of anxious because I am not a very good test taker. I'm not very good with interviews either as I haven't had to be interviewed for a job in more than 7 years.

Since we're on the subject of trying to get into LASD...I was wondering how the physical training is? I am not physically fit but I know I can push through it like I pushed through football in high school. How tough is the physical training and what should I expect? I want to start running and doing push ups/sit ups.

What should I aim/train for so I can come into the academy with some confidence?

I was also wondering how long the process usually takes between doing the written exam and being admitted to the academy? I am currently employed and I would need to help find a replacement prior to entering the academy.

                            Thanks.

as far as the process goes, bo, just finished his with LASD and he said the process took over 7 months. If that is the case that is plenty enough time for you to get ready for the academy.

                              GL today! WOOO I'm excited!
