Awesome, I just got my first contact with my background investigator today. Any news on which Academy will come first?

I know the process is different for every applicant but I would like to know how long it took for the background investigator to contact you after the packet is turned in and if anyone was contacted if they had something missing from the packet. I couldn't get my highschool transcripts because the dristict was closed the whole week of Easter.

It took me little over 4 months to meet with my BI after submitting my background packet to LASD.

I took the test at the end of Jan., after passing they give an date for initial interview (mine was the following week) and given the application packet, application takes a while to get together (transcripts, credit report), after submitting that I waited for my investigator to contact me. That took about a month. I met with my investigator for another interview and got an appointment for a poly 2 weeks later. Now I'm in the process of taking the poly, ride-a-along, and county visit.

I think the only strange thing about this process, to me, was that they wanted all my emails and passwords to them. Are they going to sit and read through all me email?

The process is relatively quick. I'm also in the process for NYPD and that has taken years. I took the test 2 years ago and finally got called back recently for the background check. Good luck everyone.

What happens during the background phase.
I got my initial interview and poly same day, then schedule a ride along and county tour, is there anything else?

Go to the mens wearhouse tell them you have a interivew with LA County sheriffs they'll hook you up with a nice professional suit. Get some good sleep the night before, just remember this is your job to lose or get come with a winning attitude.

BoJack have you heard from LASD or OCSD?
                      Sound advice here.

Right now LASD is running multiple academy classes, with more starting as soon as one graduates.

Best of luck to all applicants. I did 32.5 years with LASD and enjoyed myself very much. I had a blast.

I have to agree with Ron above. I only did 27yrs. with LASD due to a medical retirement, but despite my numerous surgeries, I truly enjoyed my career in le. Heck, if I hadn't had one of my knee injuries, I never would have met my future wife (she was my physical therapist).

Reading everyone's posts about what you have to submit to your B.I. and all of the different tests you have taken, sure brought back some memories.

I wish all of you who make it thru the process, a great career. Please remember to always wear a vest, no matter what the weather. It is better to be hot and sweaty and alive then cold in your coffin because you thought it was too uncomfortable to wear your vest in the summer heat. Be safe.

My background investigator is in Lancaster. Poly will be done at same location. I think its probably cause I'm coming from SFBay Area.
