Wow they're moving you along pretty quickly. They must really like you.

Quick question, did they send you background investigation forms before they notified you about your oral board?

Looks like there's a lot of us in process here.

I just passed my oral board on Thursday and my 1st fitness and medical exam on Tuesday. Now it's pretty much all background, drug test, and two more physical tests before I'm off to the academy.

Took my test today, the other test takers that I spoke to that did not study for the ALT looked like they were having a hell of a time. Those of us that studied breezed right through it

I initially applied for the NM/West Texas sectors, but then after receiving my Tentative Offer, I changed it to CA. From what I hear, they'll ultimately send you wherever... most of the job offers have been Arizona. I'd love to end up in the San Diego Sector... but I'd honestly take any offer.

Well I scored a 93 on the test... my coworker also tested with me on the same day and scored an 80... yet we both got our NOR and Tentative Offer on the same days.

I haven't received my background forms yet... the Tentative Selection Letter I got via email had a smaller packet that I had to fill out and send in. It had a pay-grade determination packet, as well as some generic federal employment eligibility forms. My Oral Board confirmation was sent via snail mail. Still no word on my PFT1 or Medical.

From what I read over on Honorfirst.com, the E-QUIP background packet is sent out as part of the 2nd pre-employment packet.

Ive been told-no knowing the truth to it or not- that that will make a difference. You take the test then go on the list for the region you chose and are interviewed when the slots open up. All the places I asked for were in AZ.
Any truth to this? Don't know.

                    I hope that's only a rumor.

PFT1 and Medical are arranged by a contractor and carried out by a sub-contractor. The contractor will contact you by phone at some point (mine called a week before my board interview) to arrange your appointment. You must be tested within 1 week of being contacted. Both tests are done at the same time, same location. You'll have to go back to have your TB test read 2-3 days later.

And yeah, background checks get started with the 2nd packet, also arriving via email. E-QIP is an online system that you log into to give your background info. Then you print it out and mail it in along with fingerprints and a huge stack of other forms in duplicate and triplicate. My packet was so thick it cost me almost $10 to mail it first class.

When I got the response from MHC confirming they'd changed my geographic preference, they specifically told me "this will not affect how soon we call you".

I've mainly been going off of what I've been reading on HonorFirst.com... Most of the recent applicants who have received "the call" have been for Ajo, Naco, and Nogales, AZ. I've heard TX and CA have openings too, so I'm still hopeful.

They will sometimes offer you two options on your first offer. For me it was Arizona or Texas, I chose AZ, my preference was CA.

CBP put together a good study guide. Can't say that about the FAM guide though....
