Happy independence day. In about 12 hours our beaches will be overrun with a critical mass of people celebrating. The county will be handing out triple fines for open containers of alcohol and illegal fireworks. It's the same every year. Huge show of police force, huge show of non compliance by the people. It relates to the discussion here. Plenty of other states allow citizens to blow up gunpowder in various ways that we're not allowed to here. I love 4th of July. One day a year I feel free. Even if I'm just an observer to the mayhem.

Look at the sigs and headers of all the members and ask yourself how many are paying members of the NRA, 2AF, CGF, CRPA, or any other gun rights legislative and litigation group. Notice how many aren't. Notice how many have thousands of posts, indicating either a long history or a lot of free time. Next, ask yourself, "Self, since this person bragging about the bundles of cash they have and the opulent lifestyle they live can't be bothered to contribute $25 a year to help our cause, will they contribute a split second of their time to do anything besides pontificate on a website?"
Now ask the most important question there is: Is this person a freind or foe in the big picture of gun rights. That's an answer you have to decide for yourself. Not everybody who doesn't contribute is a foe, but not all are freinds either.Comment

Interesting thing is a retired undersheriff in our county called the DOJ when the gun shop he works at was offered to sell the
Franklin Armory AR-15 to make sure they were legal with the BB. This was a few years back. The DOJ cleared it saying it was ok. Now this crap? No way could CA ask us to turn in tens of thousands of ARs and alike without a revolt after the DOJ was oking the BB. I’m confused as to what this all means but no doubt Calguns and Brandon will set us straight as the days pass.Comment

Neither is the guy that walked into Yee's office with a camera rolling. You want to talk to a senator? Make an appointment. Show up on time. Respect the rules on the office and building. And wear some decent clothes to show you respect yourself, the cause, and the Office. If you don't you are shown the same respect and tossed out the door.
I wrote a letter to Yee and the Assembly Committee on Public Safety members (or whatever I was supposed to). The gun-supporting member wrote me back. The others did not, but I bet it was read and my message was heard. I also signed the petitions. I'm sure I could do more but that's what I have time and resources for right now.Last edited by chuck1024; 07-04-2012, 9:01 AM.Comment

not necessarily. For example, maybe you should vote for me as a state senator; but I wasn't born in US. However I'm a NRA member, CRPA member, and a firm believer in US constitution including 2nd amendment because the founding fathers at that time had such a clear and simple view of democracy - I learned in my exam for my citizenship20+ years ago.
Yee, his #1 problem is that he is a politician in SF. (Majority of politician simply wants to be re-elected) In SF there are so many who love legalizing drugs (against the neighbor's opposition), helping the thugs against law abiding citizens, etc.Last edited by ca1903; 07-04-2012, 9:16 AM.NRA Lifetime. I will be sending the following letter to Mr Yee tomorrow, his damn webpage does not explain that if your not in district SD08 it wont send your response, anyway for what it is worth im posting it here 1st so you can give me some pointers.
This is the 2nd letter i have sent him, but this one is in response to the racist comments which have been posted on his webpage.
And try to appeal to him on a moral level, but hell hes a politician so not sure how that will work.
Dear Senator Yee,
Regards the backlash over SB249.
I don't agree with the hateful and racist remarks towards you over you wanting to enact SB249, that said though you have made a lot of hard working, law abiding and tax paying citizens very angry.
I am afraid that goes hand in hand with the territory in which you want to pitch your tent.
Seeing past this in a positive light, you should ask yourself, what are you really trying to accomplish here. Claiming that these type of firearms will fall into the wrong hands and be used to kill and maim the innocent is surely fear mongering. It is the worst form of propaganda, surely as an elected senator that can not be your agenda, to scare up enough folks, so to vilify a certain sect of the law abiding population, and create criminals out of us.
That's not why a senator is elected into office, by the people. I would be ashamed to think it was true.
All of us know that if criminals want to get there hands on any firearm, they can modify it anyway they want without regard for any written or passed law, hence them being criminals.
You would better serve the people if you focused more on catching criminals and locking them up than to go after law abiding citizens and there firearms rights.
It is unconstitutional to divide and label certain members of the public for which you serve and attempt to penalize them because you feel that the criminals amongst us will try and take advantage of a badly perceived situation to cause mayhem on the streets.
Gun owners are law abiding persons who are held to a higher standard than non-gun owners, and we pride ourselves on what it takes to own and keep a firearm of any type, and the different responsibilities that go with it.
SB249 if passed will paint us with a very broad brush turning us into criminals for its actions.
You have to ask yourself, would you want to be lumped into such a group as that of the criminal element because of a bill that targets the rights of which we have been given under the constitution of this great country. I would say no you would not, so why do it to us.
Mr Yee have you forgotten the shores from which you come from, i doubt that was an easy journey.
Your position of power must of been earned in part by your own merits, but it has been afforded you under the freedom of the constitution and its bill of rights, for which they apply to all of us. To some the constitution might seem like a history lesson something that was written hundreds of years ago and has hardly any bearing in present day society. Though the truth of it Mr Yee is the merits that you have earned would not matter at all if it was not for the protection of the U.S constitution.
And that's the beauty of the constitution it protects us all, i strongly suggest that you do the same for us.Comment

Actually you are doing the rest of the country a favor by proving how in effective your tactics are. Showing we should not go down the road of coddling to the left, and worrying if they think we are yahoos. Good Luck to you though sir. I am not one of the ones that hopes to see you and your fellow statesmen hand over your firearms.
I guess you would have thought the yahoos at Concord and Lexington bridge were out of line as well.
Hand em over boys.....
No, Nutcase is right and you are wrong. Insults don't help your case either. It makes anyone with any respectability ignore you, and eventually the cause that the rest of support. You are doing none of us any favors by showing us how mad and immature you are.

FYI- On my trip to San Fran to visit the girlfriends family I stopped in to "Senator" Leland Yee's taxpayer funded office... I was wearing a shirt that said "Guns save lives"... I walked in to said office with my camera, asked the receptionist (Whom I think was a gay man) if the "Senator" was in and I'd like to share some of my ideas on his legislation with him... he said "What are you doing here? You can't have a camera in here." (In a tone almost hostile)... he then told me to turn off the camera and I am to leave immediately... I replied "Well I'd just like to express my displeasure over the looming gun grabbing legislation SB 249 and I wish to ask him politely to take it off the table and try to attack criminals in a way fitting, not attack the law abiding taxpaye..." That is when security showed up told me to turn off the camera and I refused... they then TOOK my camera ($150 value) and told me if I didn't leave I'd be arrested. I then said "ok, fine, I see how this place is run... I'll leave... can I get my camera back?" the security guards said "no, it's not permitted in the office without written permission and now it's contraband, you can file a report with the security desk and they'll get it back to you".....
NOW HOW ABOUT THAT FOR AN EXPERIENCE!!!! And yes, I am not bull****ting you. I just got home to Escondido about an hour ago... still VERY pissed off.... and doubting I'll see my camera again. So I was robbed of my 1st Amendment rights to bring grievances to my government and also robbed (get this, the guards had guns, amazing eh?) of my property. I filed the report with the security desk and called the sheriff (got no satisfaction there, they in other words told me since I'm not a resident of the area here I have no business being in his office).
These people will trample over all of your rights and take everything away from you and it won't bother them as you are not part of their collective. That is the mind set for many people now in CA. If your not part of the collective then you have no rights and freedoms.Originally posted by aklonIn 1775 we stood up.
