Not a great price. you paid about $4.50 premium per coin depending on what time of day you bought. That is a 30% markup! My goal is to pay 2.75 or less premium per am eagle. I am usually closer to 2.50 or less (look for promotions).

Depends on the seller. My stuff from provident gets left in mailbox. Jm bullion too. some sellers ship it in a manner that requires a signature and thus you have to pick it up from the PO if you miss it...u can go on a Saturday if you are busy.

Saturday my local guy was asking $11.50 for $1 face value of junk silver. That's only 15 cents over spot. He says gold is likely to drop around $1000 and silver will be $11 an oz.
of course I didn't see his crystal ball, so that's just his opinion.

I'd like to buy some silver bars. I'm poor so only have about $200 to spend. But you have to start somewhere. I collect pre '64 silver quarters. I used to trade them in for cash but now I save them.

Is there a good place near Castro Valley, CA that I could buy them for a fair price? I saw a couple places online selling the, for $18/bar.

                    Thanks.

Provident sells "junk silver" dimes and quarters.

You can buy a 10 oz bar from jm bullion for like 75 cents over spot I believe, or something like that

For someone who's poor and basically starting in PM's, I would not recommend blowing his entire budget on a single 10 oz bar. Presumably, he's buying silver for wealth preservation if there's a currency collapse or if SHTF. But what good will it do him to have a single 10 oz bar? If he needs to barter/trade, he only has one wad to blow. He's much better off starting with 1 oz rounds or bars, even though he will pay a slightly higher premium. But at least he can get about 10 individual pieces of silver for trading.

Agreed. Not only for new guy. In survival mode. The quest for essentials (bread, fuel, water,) will be bought with negotiable trade items. Cutting bar stock for essentials is cumbersome.
