I never talked to him, I found the forum from a google search and it was about 6-7 years old. There were some posts after asking and people say he is long gone and every Valmet source or site I email say there is no place to find these anywhere. Very rare unique part that is out if production

was the original plate all one thickness or was it tapered? in other words, if i simply cut out a flat plate and put the two holes for the screws, would they need to be drilled at an angle or do they go into the stock at a right angle to the butt plate "plane"?

if so I could definitely make that. out of Ti if you wanted even.

trace it on a piece of paper as well as you can and try to accurately locate the holes on the paper too.

or if you have some calipers, try to measure the hole-to-hole distance (and hole diameter) and then the hole edge to top and bottom edges of the stock, and we might just assume the hole pattern is centered..that might be accurate enough

How about a thumb-rest for a featureless converted Saiga 7.62x39? It would mount on the unused axis holes from the removed OEM trigger.

If it sounds promising, I'll take some measurements and pictures and try to iron down the actual look and mounting hardware required.

its really not necessary. i try to avoid that because ive ended up with a huge pile of other peoples "things" hehe...

is tracing it out of the question? once you trace it i can make a prototype of it and send it to you.

What about basepads for magazines? I'd totally buy some for my glock and AR15 magazines

                          1A - 2A= -1A :(

that looks like something I can make

                              are those unavailable or something?

is the geometry simple or are there things which will be hard to measure

i dont have a CMM..just calipers and an edge finder, test indicator, the mill etc..
