Hi all;

Sort of a new kid in town here, not that anyone is talk'in or walk'in like me, but ... I did have a question for the DIY crowd.

I have many guns, but there are three more guns that I would like to own.
An AR, an AK and a 10/22. Since Santa Baby hasn't come across lately,
it looks like it's DIY's'ville. BTW, I have a 550 SqFt shop on the property,
for restoring vintage Honda motorcycles, so I can build stuff.

My question is about the 80 percent solution for receivers.

If you want to DIY a 10/22, you can go to WWW.Ruger1022Reciever.com
and you willl find their very nice Razor 10/22 milled receiver. It is an 80 percent'er. All you have to do is, drill 8 holes, 1 barrel hole and 1 detent hole.

The site video showed the drilling and mounting of the other hardware and a test fire. All within 10 minutes ... start to finish. AND all this could be done with a hand drill!

Lets see now ... you bend over a piece of flatware with holes in it and it becomes a WEAPON! After the bend, buying "kits", replacing parts, heat treating, welding, head spacing, pinning, fitting ... you MIGHT have something that may explode in your face.

Am I missing something here? Is this just an ATF, CADOJ or BARF issue?

I have yet to have an AK "blow up in my face".
Check head space, and run dry tests before you ever fire it for feeding, extraction, and ejection, and your chances of that happening are pretty slim (some would say extremely anorexic at best).
Building is a 922(r), SB23, NFA, thing for the most part. So federal, state, and local laws must be adhered to.

After reading the OP three times I think he is trying to ask if it is as simple as getting a parts kits and putting it together. No paperwork or registration involved. Either that or he's tweaking.
