    USPSA Special Classification in Chabot?

I realized that I just missed the special event for the year in Richmond past Sunday...does anyone knows when is the special classification event for Chabot?

Or if there are other event in the Bay Area this year?

The TASC (Chabot) one in 2013 was the second match in June. I don't know about 2014.

Concord had one in November. Now that they're an official USPSA club I imagine they'll do it once a year as well. I don't know if they're going to do it sooner or later.

Also between Richmond, TASC and DAP/Concord there are 5 USPSA matches/month without even driving out to Sacramento so if you want to shoot a lot of classifiers there are lots of opportunities.

I just showed up and shot a match. It was one of their first ones and they wanted to see some kind of proof that you knew what you were doing. A classification card was fine.

Yep Diablo Action Pistol requires a USPSA card with a classifier ranking. Dont show up with an unclassified card alone and expect to shoot. Non members make sure you find a member of USI so that you are a guest of that shooter.

There are a number of ways to shoot there and all are pretty easy. If you need more info contact class@diabloactionpistol.com and it'll get sorted out and you'll get a response quickly.

USPSA allows up to 2x level 1 special classifiers per year, with up to 6 classifier stages (although there are only 5 bays at Richmond and Concord).

This past Saturday during practice, I pestered the Diablo's permanent involuntary MD about having another spec class match later this spring. She didn't say "no," but it looked like she is still recovering from putting together the two back-to-back matches in November.

I think if you can line up 5 permanent RO's for the stages and volunteers to build them, you might be able to get somewhere.

6 months from Diablo's prior special classifier points to April. There are no other USPSA matches on 1st Saturdays in the Bay Area (I think), so April 5th? (With setup on Friday 4/4/14)

If you do it, count me in for 1 stage setup + 1 RO.

I thought USPSA matches were open to anyone that has a classification i.e. you do not need to be a member or a member's guest. This is why past USI matches were not USPSA sanctioned as only members could participate.

They certainly never made me identify a member to be a guest of. They did describe us as a guest of the CLUB and all first timers had to take a little 10 minute tour of the range (extent of where you can walk with a firearm, the water's non-potable, that kind of thing).

Not gonna go down that rabbit hole of an argument... Theres plenty of the on Brian Enos if you want to go look but we've done our homework on this with the USPSA home office. A reading of the club manual that USPSA gives you proves this out in a section.

FYSA, special classifier matches may be a moot issue now.

From the latest and greatest USPSA Membership Report:
                      Ending the Classifier Limit
One major administrative change for 2014 is the elimination of the 12 per year limit on USPSA classifier score submissions. The development of the new activity credit system means there is no longer a need for this restriction and clubs may now submit as many classifiers as they like. This also means the restriction of one classifier per match without a special classifier is also removed. We hope this gives clubs more flexibility in their match design and helps clubs get new shooters classified faster.
