Just bit the bullet and upgraded to President. So far I already have two private blocks set up... around New Years. Oh well, better then being there in summer...
For reference, here are the FS private training guidelines from the email I received:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I need a 30-days notice to schedule private training. Youmay book up to 4 consecutive days, based on availability.

I can book up to 6-months in advance. At the beginning ofeach month I open up a new month, six months out, to schedule. Please keep in mindthat our cooler months (spring and fall) are our busy months and they fill upquickly.

There are classes that we are not able to do in privatetraining. Here is the list:

    - Advanced Tactical Handgun

    - Tactical Scenarios

    - Advanced Integrated Handgun

    - 4 Gun Tactical

    - Rope & Rappel

    - Any Night courses

    - Precision Rifle Fundamentals

    - Tactical Awareness

    - Armorer’s

    - Any class room classes

    - Tracking point

    - Instructor Development
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was told that they stick to standard class curriculums (so no 3 gun, etc.), but things may be more flexible on the range (depending on the RM). Can anyone else add their $.02 to that?

I upgraded about a year ago and will be going out in September to do a tactical handgun. One thing other thing you can do is to go int the class knowing what you want to work on say draw and presentation and then concentrate on that aspect. Granted it is a portion of a class but we all struggle in one aspect or another and it is good to work with someone to identify issues and mistakes then correct them. Looking forward to my upcoming class.
One last thing, for every two days of a standard class you are wanting to take it will be reduced by a day as you are only waiting on yourself.

This should be an interesting weekend. I am headed to Front Sight this morning to attend the shotgun skill builder. I got notification last week that starting time for both days will be at 0600. That's gonna be rough!

I am staying at the Best Western Oasis this trip. I usually like to stay at Saddle West but my last stay there was totally disgusting.

I will provide a range report when I return on Tuesday.

BTW - I'm tentatively planning on a trip there in November for the handgun skill builder if anybody is interested in going.

I did a rifle skill builder or two last summer. Yeah, they cut you off at lunch because of the heat. You gotta be pretty hardcore to want to be training in those conditions

diverwcw: good luck and have fun in your class. As already mentioned, the early start time is because they cut you loose early due to the heat.
stay hydrated and enjoy the training.

let us know how it goes.
I'm headed out there for a week in the middle of August.

Had a great day out at FS today. Just a bit warm, but light breeze kept it comfortable.

Summer Private classes are 6AM - noon.

We did 1-day Private HCM, got in 7 tests..

New Food Trailer looks ready. Hope all the permits are done by fall classes.

I'll try and get more info in a few weeks when I'm there on when the food truck will be up and running.

Just got back and it was hot! Training started at 0600 and stopped at 1230. This is the second shotgun skill builder I've taken and I really need to take it a few more times. I don't have much hope for DG any time soon but I would surely be happy with graduate. I went through with a Remington 870 but the course seems geared toward semi automatic shotguns.

I stayed at the Best Western Oasis across from the Saddle West. It's a good facility; new and clean with a nice freebie breakfast!

Their pro shop is still hurtin' for certain but they are making progress on their construction projects. I could see several new ranges off to the south.

All in all a nice weekend.

                          Why?
too many get everything at cost or.....
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Why do you say it is geared for semi-auto shotguns? Not sure I buy that based on my experience.

Took the 4-day class in Jan, and only 2 DG’d - both we’re running pumps. Did the skill builder in June and 6 DG’d- 2 running pumps.

Only advantage semis have is the ability to use MatchSavers. I was the only one using it in Jan. But most of the semis had them in June. Even John Wick is running a MatchSaver now.
