First off thank you 9mm for all the help you've been giving me.

Question 2&3: are for sure set up correctly.

Question 1: when watching ab instructions video and reading the directions both said to screw down the adjustment screw at the top of the die until you feel it just hit the top of te collets. Then shake it and you should hear the collets not have much room to move. I honestly could not feel the point where the adjustment part of the die just hit the top of the collet. Nut i did have it screwed in pretty far were there wasnt much more room to go. I am getting about 2-3 out of 7 to drop when i try it.

I will back out the die so its not covering the entire case (on the upstroke) and work on how to adjust the top o the die do the collets dont raise when the bullet hits the die.

When you were screwing in the Adjustment Screw, did you have it's lock ring/O-ring backed all the way out?

Yes i did, i also figured out i have to go back to the drawing board on my seating/chrimp die adjustment. Not much but i noticed i didnt have enough chrimp on the bullets when shoting them today. So far 4.7 gn of hp38 worked best.

No worries you've helped me a bunch. Im going to mess with it again yoday and see what i figure out. I also have 2 other calibers i can try down the line also.

Hornady has good customer service so if its something with the product i know they fix it right away.

Im just glad the forum can leave info avalible to hopefully help someone else also

Well i got the bullet feeder adjusted a little better its dropping 5 out of 8 bullets or so now.

I also just got an inline fab short ergo handle added to the press. This handle is amazing best money spent by far.

O.k. so i finally got my inhome reloading setup pretty complete, I purchased my LNL about 6 months ago and just got a chance to really set it up and start using it. here's a few pics of my set up nothing special but i'm happy (the garage is way to hot to reload in the summer)

it's a Harbor Freight work bench, I bolted it to the wall and added a magnetic tool holder to the side. I also did the mod to attach the 2 draws together to make one deep drawer.

my presses are on some stands my friend made for me, perfect height for me to work standing up or sitting down. i will leave the LNL up at all times, and can remove the Lee single stage and replace it with my LCT press. I have them attached with bolts and wing nuts for easy removal.

I also purchased a small shelf and put it in the closet for some of my items. the bottom shelf of the bench hold a good amount of weight.

I'm waiting for my lee collect style bullet holder to arrive, so i can try out the bully adapter.

all and all i am very happy with the press so far, and want to thank everyone for all there help and answers.

Anyone have any tips or tricks fir setting up the rcbs lock out die. Ive read instructions multiple times and watched youtube videos. I feel if set the adhustment right. Ut when i put in a low powder drop it doesnt lock up. It will if i put a case in with no powder. And i forgot to try a double charge.
i am loading 9 mm with 4.7 grains of hp 38

Any help is appreciated.

Another small question not so important. Anyone shot rnfp bullets out a 9mm or 45 acp? Wondering if they would feed well. I realized from shoting 38 that fp makes a cleaner hole and works in the bullet drop die/lee drop tubes alot better than rn bullets. Atleast in 9mm

I don't believe it is designed to detect a low powder drop. Only no powder or a double charge.

I could almost use my Lock-Out dies to set the powder charge, they are so sensitive.
I find that I get quite a few false lock-ups, so I keep the die loose and, when it locks-ups, I will turn the die in or out slightly to get it to release (you can tell whether it is reading light or heavy from the mark on the rod). I'll then check the weight. Just the case volume variation of different head stamps is enough.
Thus, I set it up not by the RCBS instructions but by taking a case with the right charge in it and using that for initial die set up--not adjusting the rod but adjusting the whole die body.
It certainly will notice a slightly low or high charge and a non-charge will stop things real quick.
If you don't use it, don't guess at how it works.

Since there is nothing in the instructions I have to suggest that the die is intended to do more than detect no charge or double charge, that's all I rely on it to do. Getting significant variance in powder drops, once a hopper refill is settled in, is a different problem.

Am i the only one who notices that wheb the plunger goes down on the lock out die it snatches some of the powder out of tbe case. Doubt its enough to worry though

If you set up the RCBS Lockout die correctly, it will lock out on a double/over charge as well as under/no charge.

I've found the best way to set up the die is off press and with a case that has the proper charge.

If it's a new Lockout die, the powder will want to stick to the plastic tip, so keep checking the powder weight as you adjust the rod.

I start with the rod all the way out and then adjust in, as I cover the brass with the lip of the bottom of the die.

I also have an empty case as well as a double charge to test all 3 conditions once I've dialed in the rod to allow it to fully cover/accept the correctly charged case. The rod is actually quite sensitive, so work in small increments.

Once it's dialed in correctly for the desired charge volume, it will lock out on under/over charge. I test this on the bench as well as in the press for all three conditions.

Since the rod can turn over time, it can essentially become out of tune, so I take and dot (with white car touch up paint) the rod and the top of the die so I have a reference point to bring the rod back to if it drifts over time. Not the best gauge, but it works for me. YMMV.

Under or over charged by how much +-? Mine has never stopped me except for an empty case. (context is when using a Hornady powder measure with either Bullseye or 300-MP.)
