i would buy a case feeder and bullet feeder for my press, but then I would just complain about how I need to get on a step stool to fill them back up.

I'm not currently loading .45ACP, but I do switch back and forth between 9mm and .38SPL.
What I've done is gotten an extra Quick Change Powder Die and move the Powder measure and Case Activated Powder Drop linkage between the two lowers.
I have them each adjusted to rotate the Rotor and Metering Insert through it's full travel. So it's just a matter unhooking the spring, loosening one screw knob and unhooking the actuating arm to move the powder measure between lowers. I then insert the Metering Insert that I have preset for my .38SPL loading
You should set the OAL while all the stations/dies have cases in them. There is a certain amount of play in the shellplate that is affected by pressure from the other operations. If you are getting a lot of varying lengths, you might want to check that the Shellplate Retaining Bolt is tight...did you put a locknut above the washer? But some bullets just weren't seating at the right height.Last edited by 9mmepiphany; 07-21-2015, 5:07 PM....because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

9mm thank you for those ideas i will try them both. And that makes sense as the shell plate would wobble loose pretty often.Comment

Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

Tip to headstamp.
Is this the lower part mentioned?

That's pretty much it.
I recommend buying a separate Metering Insert for differing calibers. I also don't recommend the micrometer ones ones. You can get 3 plain ones for the price of a micrometer one...then just leave them set to favorite throw weights...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Case feeder is an automatic add on for a progressive press in my mind. Helps when sizing and depriming large batches of 223 and 308 before a stainless tumble.
I'd like to use a bullet feeder but with a lock out die and separate seating and crimping, there isn't a stage for it.Comment

I like the bullet feeder and its working alot better with the 45 than it was with the 9mm. If only i had a 6th station. As i am having bad luck setting the chrimp/seat die at the same time.
Would much prefer to use the lee chrimp dies i own seperately
When i started setting up 45 acp yesterday i had multiple cases that fit my case guage after sizing/depriming but the bottom of the bullet got tight and stuck after running through all the dies. Any thoughts what die needs to be adjusted?Last edited by roc_my_tims; 07-22-2015, 4:00 PM.Comment

When i started setting up 45 acp yesterday i had multiple cases that fit my case guage after sizing/depriming but the bottom of the bullet got tight and stuck after running through all the dies. Any thoughts what die needs to be adjusted?- Back out the die to where it won't crimp
- Get the seating depth/COL you want
- Back the seating stem out of the way
- Screw in the crimp die body until you get the desired crimp
- Reset the seating plug to slight resistance against the crimped bullet nose
Avoid having the bullet still moving when crimp firms up. That will buckle the case. The above procedure, pretty much according to die instructions, will ensure the timing of seat and crimp.
Some dies I have came with alternate seating stems for round nose or flat point. Might want to coordinate that too.Last edited by at_liberty; 07-23-2015, 9:04 AM.Comment

Thank you at liberty, i wasnt backing the seating stem out all the way so the bullets was still moving some while adjusting the chrimp and that did buldge the case a little so now i know what the problem was
Ita a bumber but last night to keep the powder cop die i set up the factory chrimp seperately on another press it made all the problems go away. Im wondering it i should keep the extra dumb step maybe for now as i need some bullets for this weekend.Comment
