    Reloading log - Android App

    Hello everyone,

I have created an android app that keeps track of reloading information, and I thought some of the people here might be interested in it. The app is simple named Reloading Log and can be found on the play store here. Right now, the app keeps track of basic information such as Manufacturer and Model for each component, as well as general notes about your Cartridges, and grouping. I am also in the process of adding in the ability to share cartridge information, so you can more easily share information at the range.

If you don't feel that the app suits your needs, or is missing features, please let me know. I am constantly trying to improve everything, and I will do my best to implement new features that are requested.

Looks good so far. Maybe if you add a notes section, temperature info, and velocity information, that would be good. Also, if there was a trial version, I'd download it and try it out.

Thanks for the suggestions. There actually is a note section already, but I don't believe it is visible in the pictures on google play. I have been working on getting a velocity feature out, but it sounds like I should double my efforts there. For temperature information, do you mean having the temperature information tied to the velocity? Something like 3000 FPS at 70*, or did you have something else in mind?

I have looked into building a trial version, but they have always been a huge hassle to keep two versions of the same application maintained. I will revisit the idea of a trial version when I have a better idea of where I want to go with this app.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions,
        Kyle

I have not included shotshell reloading because I have never done it before, and I am unsure what data is important for that type of reloading.

Is it similar in concept to metallic reloading only you have hulls instead of cases, shot size/weight instead of bullet, and you need to know the type of wad? If so, I could definitely implement an option for shotshells within a couple of weeks. I would just need to re-prioritize some existing features I am working on.

Shouldn't be too hard to have a trial. Just limit the number of cartridge info to like three in the trial. The paid version can have unlimited. Should be an easy programming fix.

I understand your concern, but my app is on the Google Play store. By design it requires zero permissions and stores all of your inputted data on your phone.

Creating a trial version is not too hard, but maintaining it becomes quite a bit more work. Any changes I need would have to be made twice, once in each version of the app. Then I would need to run the same manual tests in both apps to insure none of the changes had any accidental consequences. If there was an easier way to produce and maintain a trial version, I would do it.

                      that means absolutely nothing.

Google play may not mean anything to you, but app permissions should. The application permissions dictate exactly what the application requires to run and asks the users permission to use those services. Here is a list of all of the different permissions within android.

My app requires zero permissions, since it does not use any of those services. It is impossible for my application to access any of your data, and it is also impossible for my application to transmit data to an external source.

If anyone has any other concerns, let me know.

I uninstalled the load data app I had and am using yours now. It's far superior to what I previously had been working with. Thanks..

I'm glad you like it. I originally had the idea for the app when I realized how bad all of the existing apps were. Please let me know if there are any other features you would like implemented.

I'm working on transmitting Shooting Chrony data directly to a handheld device, allowing the user to select loads and store the associated velocity data.

So far, I've looked at 15.4 wireless or wired to 3.5mm, BT, and 802.11 to get data to the device. Considering the app permissions discussion above, is that input something you can use?
