If the cases are sized & primed, you need a lot less force to run the press, you're faster than a pure single-stage & have a lot less setup to do, or things to watch on the pro 1000. Check for powder, seat a bullet, pull the handle, one round, one pull.. and 0% chance of a flipped/missing primer.. less problems with the press as well, since one of the causes of problems in the lee presses is the grit that falls out when you deprime.
Yes. That is certainly a good way to do things. That is what I am going to start doing... Resizing on turret, prime while watching tv or a movie and then when I am ready to load, go and load bullets and powder... No nede to worry about flipped primers or anything, well, in MY case, the only bad thing is that it is a ***** to get those tulas primers in on the upstroke and it kills my arm to do so...

Has anyone else ever dropped down to single stage from progressive? I bought a Lee Pro 1000 with all the goodies-bullet feeder, multi tube assemblies, shellplates, etc but just could never get it to work right. I bought a single stage Lee press and really enjoy it. Yes, I cannot produce hundreds of rounds in an hour, but it is more relaxing producing 50 or so than it is having to stop every few minutes to make some adjustment on the progressive.

I have had a Dillon set up on 9mm for 4 years and loaded over 40,000 rounds on it. The only adjustment I make is for different powders, otherwise the machine hasn't been adjusted once.

      Must be a Lee thing.

Loading 9 is about as challenging as programming your lawn sprinkler controller..
After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..

I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..

I am running 3 Dillon presses one is 9MM it usually stays that way till I need something with small primer loaded the next is set up form45 ACP right now, it gets changed the most with 40, 10MM, 44 mag etc. lg primers. I use the 550's for pistol cases as they seem to run and run with hardly a hiccup in years of use. The 650 is my rifle loader, between that and a single stage for reloading hunting rounds there is nothing I can't handle. The reason I post this is I have been the cheap route and the one press does it all route and ended up here. I love Dillons customer service and won't even consider anything else. The primer systems work well as long as you know what makes them tick. My single stage is a Lee, it works great and I paid 25 bucks for it used. See I gave away my single stage presses thinking I wouldn't need them again. Stupid me. Try using a collet puller on a Dillon.....not fun.

I see that there were a lot of good ideas on this thread for all of us to share, that is why I love putting out thoughts and complaints. Sometimes they turn into gems.
