If these work better in a handgun, I'll go get a new pistol and load them for that instead.

Just an FYI on your banded brass that looks to be AGUILA head stamps. Throw that crap in the recycling bin.

OP, I'm confused. Just keep shortening them until they plunk.

            What's the problem?

Crimp the **** out of it. The bullet should be dented.

What does your manual say is the min OAL for the load you are developing?

Reloading is an activity where mistakes are measured in fingers and eyes.

That was my concern. Manual says 1.1250

Do you or anyone else have a way to plunk test an AR-9 barrel that is installed, other than dropping it and having it fall out fairly easily? With a handgun barrel this is a simple task. Unfortunately this gun is assembled.

You can seat as deep as needed to properly chamber, but you need to reduce the powder charge accordingly. That reduction depends on the powder and bullet weight. Are those 125gn or 147gn? We can help you with a safe place to start but need to know the length of the bullet and which powder you're using.

Also like others said above, your crimp needs to be increased. From the looks of that last picture it appears there's still some space between the case mouth and bullet.

Yea, lock the bolt back and drop it in.

Always best to take the gun apart though.

OP, don't take this the wrong way but I think you're in over your head. Is there somebody local to you, you can ask for help.

What you're doing shouldn't be this complicated.
