    iphone case recommendation plz

so the company I'm separating with today(last day) gave me the iphone4 i've been using over the last several years for work(for keepsies) as a parting "thank you for all your hard work" gift, and it needs a new case

I've been living with an Otterbox Defender since I first received the phone. Its seen and taken a ton of abuse and I am mostly very happy with it. The aspect I am not happy with is the tacky / sticky rubber exterior layer. Its a f^cking nuisance to put into a pocket of clothing.

I want a case with a comparable level of protection (its been through multiple dirtbike, bmx crashes and I have dropped it innumerable times from 3ft+ heights and it still kept the phone safe) but without the tacky rubber / silicone exterior

thanks in advance & "plz respond"

Just bought the Trident Cyclops 2 for the wife (in pink of course). http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0060V...sr=8-2&pi=SL75

This thing is solid. Unlike the Otterbox, the silicone cover/layer goes on first, then the outer plastic shell. Not as bulky as an otterbox, but seems very secure. The little nubs provide extra grip and the plastic screen cover is part of the case. So far she loves it.

Stay away from the Otterbox Armor. The sticky rubber exterior is PITA when trying to put the phone in your pocket, it is abnormally large, it is difficult to hear conversations because of the case, and the rubber coating starts to separate from the front of the phone within a matter of a few weeks. Waste of money in my opinion.

Lifeproof FTW! Easy to take your phone in and out. Completely water proof. Ive dropped mine 10ft down a trench before no problem. Mine has lasted a year and is just now showing serious wear and tear but I'm rough on my phone.

As much as Otter is a big, ugly, PITA, and I'm not even going to discuss what its like to pull the rubber out of your pocket, the Otter box has been the only device capable of keeping my iPhone alive for the last two years. I destroyed 4 inferiorly cased crackberries with lifespans measured in months, and the O-box has outlasted all of them combined (except for the belt clip, which is a PoS). Apparently, the O-box also reduces the MTBF of the power button on top, but the replacement cost for that little blister(including labor) is less than $50. All in all, the O-box was well worth the investment due to the number of times it saved the phone.

Now that my rubber has ruptured, and in the spirit of DefCon's recent announcements, I was actually looking for a 3d print template and came across this article yesterday:
Get full-length product reviews, the latest news, tech coverage, daily deals, and category deep dives from CNET experts worldwide.

Unfortunately, the prospect of printing designer 3d iPhone cases was insufficient to convince the wife to let me drop the dough on a printer. I'm going to try shoes next.

Shop mophie's extensive collection of portable chargers, power banks, car chargers, portable batteries, and far more.

No screen protector, but like the battery back up. It holds almost a full charge one the back up.

I have used Otterbox Defender series on my iphone 3, 4, and 5. They keep my phone looking new till the day I stop using it. Very happy with them. Just got an otterbox defender for my fathers Droid, and he loves it as well. He has cracked 6 screens in 1 year, I finally got fed up with him breaking phones and got him the case lol. He hasn't broke the screen since.
