dont invest $1000 invest $400-$600 or just invest a $100-$200 and get IP cameras and a cheap DVR just remember when you buy cheap you might have to buy twice.

I dont have links for the equipment I sell... but the products I sell have a 3 year no questions asked warranty on all the products. If you want a system I can design one for your needs just PM me.

I will have to ask you a few questions before I can give you a quote cause every application is different.

Why not just lay out claymores with trip wire? Or a moat filled with sharks and jellyfish? Then a draw bridge of course. My personal favorite is the self destruct button so when someone breaks in strategicly placed c4 will bring the house down on the intruder 75% of the time it works all the time.

Started with 4 camera non LAN system when I bought my house. I currently have an 8 camera LAN system. All farts around my house are recorded and archived for at least a month as well.

FWIW- I purchased a system from Yugo. I'll be installing it over the next couple of weekends and would be happy to post how it went.

I have an IP based system at my place. Not only can they see in the dark but I get text messages if anyone opens my door or trips my motion sensors. I also have 2 way comms from my laptop. Pics of all events get e-mailed to me and sent to a FTP server at my parents house. I'm still expanding my system and it does need improvements. I also installed a CCTV system at my parents house since they were having problems in the past. Got a CCTV system in my car too.

Anyone know if this is good? Best price I've seen for a complete 720P HD system, and a single CAT5 cable for each cam will make installs very easy (PoE). Too bad it's only 4 cameras though. 6 would be nice. Oh, and the possibility of offsite recording provides some redundancy.

I have that system. It is very good. The IR LEDs is probably good for 40-50' in pitch black. They do glow red at night but its pretty dim to the human eye. More like a status indicator vs a blinding LED light. Hardest part is running the wires and making it look clean. Good thing I have an attic and crawl space.

                            Notes

                            1) LED lights depending on the type will cause a strobe effect at night. I have a motion detector LED light and it strobes when activated, but my other LED lights in the front of the house does not cause the camera to strobe. Its actually kinda cool because the strobe acts like an ''alert''.

                            2) Setting it to record when there is motion is great, but leaves move or theres a spider that drops down it starts recording. You can also mask the area so it only records when there is motion in a specified area.

It was awesome having it during Halloween. Saw the people outside debating on walking up my driveway. (My cameras are pretty hidden), some walked up then walked back down. (I don't have decorations up).

                            3) The FOV is pretty narrow. 45 degrees.

The Q-See 720P cameras are Dahua cameras. One of the more popular POE type.

I can have my weapon ready to go before they reach the door. Its great sitting here at 2am and being able to watch every single corner of my house. HD is the only way to go!
