Private Internet Access (PIA). Inexpensive, lots of servers, high availability, reasonable performance. Easy to use clients for pc and android, if needed. I setup one of my routers to go through the vpn, so I have a clear route and encrypted.

This is also a NO LOG place. Meaning they keep no logs on who connects and when and for how long and what they do...

It appears Firefox supported DNS over https since like Feb w/current, but who knew?
I saw this on my work rig, but digging in after the VPN thread skimming, it appears it is a cakewalk...

No VPN required... Freeware Open Source FTW, always?
This would essentially allow for skipping your provider's DNS they are logging and passing logs along to .gov agencies.
I try to keep my nose cleaner, these days, but I digress from defcad/fosscad-megapack...

            1) Can some guys that know more than me chime in on the worries regarding this vs VPN, regarding the traffic itself indeed being encrypted if using https sites also?
I understand that https can be cracked, but safer, other than a 3rd party DNS hijack?

            2) Could an employer/Kaiser/Pinkos see queries/traffic/metadata on say a guest WiFi if they are logging, as I don't know this stuff?

            3) Woudn't it be horrible if a VPN provider you pay, was run just by a .gov agency to allow logging of traffic when you though you were safer, since you still have to use a login?

My computer whiz family members all seem happy with NordVPN.

DNS over HTTPS will NOT replace using a good VPN.

                1) DoH by itself will NOT prevent your ISP from seeing what IPs you are connecting to.

                2) DoH by itself will NOT prevent a competent IT department from seeing what websites/URLs you are connecting to.

                3) Sure that would be bad. But we know for a fact now that ALL American ISPs are logging everything and making it available to the government. So worse case scenario, if you are using a compromised VPN, it's really no worse than not using one at all.

However, it's not hard to do some research and to find VPN that has a proven track record of denying government requests for information.

I've been using Nord VPN for about 3 years now, just renewed it for another 3. Easy to use on TV, cell, tablets, laptop. Works well, doesn't decrease bandwidth too much and travels well.

I also use Opera browser which also includes vpn and do searches using duckduckgo. F Goofle and Apple.

                        VPN Unlimited

I've been using VPN Unlimited from Keep Solid and have been very happy with it.

I've been using NordVPN for years. No problems at all with their service or apps.
That being said, I will be switching to another company when my subscription expires due to their security breach and then hiding it from their customers. Will most likely end up with PIA but have more research to do before I decide.

Those of you using PIA, how is the speed? Do you notice browsing is quite a bit slower?
Also, any idea if PIA protects from IPv6 leaks? -- Never mind. Found the answer and PIA does protect against IPv6 leaks.
