So I should get ready and get on my mark eh?

I am impressed with this jump to seven I made. My system has finished several torrents in the past 9 hours that my XP machine was taking several weeks to get. Odd.

How is compatibility with winblows 10 as far as programs that were out pre win7 and stuff?

Like I have a 16 bit CATFISH program that catalogs my disks that I burn. How might that play on windows 10?

And since you have been playing with it for a while, is there a way to get rid of those ugly-assed tiles that are in the start menu? I imagine you can delete them but never hurts to ask since I do not have it yet.

Unless you are running some specialty software, nearly everything should be compatible between 7, 8 and 10. At least that is what everyone is saying. It is windows though, some I'm sure there will be incompatibilities here or there that need to get ironed out at launch..

On the system check, the only thing that shows as being a problem on my system is the bluetooth on my motherboard and a couple of the ASUS software bits. I'm sure that ASUS will resolve that stuff shortly.

I'll be downloading and installing as soon as it's available, on my desktop, laptop and tablet.

torrents have no OS dependency to complete quicker :P you better not be using utorrent, or i'll have to denounce you as an IT person

as iknownot said.. compatibility is pretty much down pact.. there are specific apps that just suck that are tied to older envs, you can VM/emulate those if NEED be

TP's should actually update to RTM/Retail eventually since they auto update builds (super smart design).

multi monitor support is so much better.. dont need 3rd party apps anymore

uh. dont know what else to say..

I know for sure I'm updating to 10. I like 7 and am ok with 8.1 (there are things I like about it and things I don't), so 10 which really is the best of 7 and 8, fits the bill for me.

Windows 8 is OS perfection, I can't imagine there being any improvement possible.

I will load it on 1 computer the day it comes out, if it works well I will slowly roll out to the rest of my systems.

Now that I have a touchscreen laptop 8.1 makes a whole lot more sense. I do think that 10 will be a good middle ground tho so I am excited.

Chances are you'll need to upgrade to 10 if you have any interest in any new games that'll use a new version of DirectX.

i have win8.1 today and hate it. not because of just the interface since i quickly go to desktop, and i pin apps i need to the toolbar. granted, it's really more a glorified media machine since i don't do emails, work stuff, etc. it just serves media to the tv.

but when i need to go to control panel and what not, jesus, how many clicks do I need to go to get there w/o creating a shortcut? my muscle memory is to click on start and right click my computer to get to some stuff.

granted, i'm much a novice on win8.1 since i didn't bother putting much time on it for jsut media serving stuff. so i'll upg to win10 asap!

                      Uhhhhhhh.

Honestly it was prolly that my last system had taken so much flak from everything and the battles that have been fought on it that it was taking on water and bogging everything down. Now that I retired it (retirement ceremony to be put on you tube...) and wiped off the C: partition and put windows on, my suspicions were correct, XP had finally given up the fight and was done fighting to get fixed. So, I am still on the SAME C: and even though I only have 8GB left of space, everything seems to be running pretty good. A little lag here and there.

I hope the old OS does not come back to haunt me now. I saved several things and I am glad i did because some things like uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, u-torrnet and other programs like filezilla live in the app data folder...

What torrent app do YOU use? And you better not say VUZE.

Does Windows 10 come with a native torrent program as well? That would be funny if it did. Also, I imagine that all of these TP will expire as well and you will have to get a different license or remove it yes?

How long does Windows 10 take to load up and how much space does it need? My C: partition is only 26GB. It worked great for a 5GB version of windows XP...

I can't wait to get rid of this stupid Win 8.1.

If I could get it earlier by paying for it, I'd pay!

I'm looking forward to it, because I have Win7 Pro... 32bit. After 16 years of building my own, I've finally built a computer that is more ADVANCED than my OS - I'm looking forward to 64bit operation, and utilizing ALL of my memory!!!

Remember, I made my orignal system back around 2001-2003 ish. Actually, it was put together right after I got it back from rpd in 2002 but for argument's sake it was around 2005. I just did not trust the HD after all that. That was back when I would partition a HD for what it's intended purpose was. For C: it was for windows 2000, but it just did not jive when I got it back so I loaded up Windows XP and left it at that. The lowest I ever got with XP was about 1GB of free space so I had to make some deletions and move stuff around.

Now instead of partitions we just use an entire drive (SSD) for the C: and call it a day it seems. I got no probs with that, at least we can use more than 4 drives on the mobo...

nzbget sounds more like a newsgroup program instead of a torrent. Now if it could grab from the newsgroups WITHOUT needing a newsfeed subscription then that would be sweet...

I will look into the others, until then, my u-torrent works
