Wearing Body Armor in the Range...

Do most members wear body armor while in the shooting range? i'm just curious if there's lot out there wearing some sort of protection from accidental discharges or freak accidents.

I always wear PACA concealed vest when go to the shooting range. hey, it's my *** we are talking here and i better go protected than be sorry later that is if i'm not dead..

I don't. However, many LE agencies mandate body armor being worn when qualifying, if it is a "static" shoot at silhouettes, vs. a dynamic "run and gun" type of course.

I've done it once or twice but I usually shoot when there are only a few other people....who are competent.

I have friends in the .gov who wear kevlar because of who they work with rather than who they work against.

          Just sayin'.

I usually do since I shoot at the range at work and it is policy. I am a rangemaster, so I can shoot anytime I want.

MOST members here will NOT wear a body armor in a shooting range.... if you feel THAT unsafe, maybe you shouldn't go there to shoot.... most places that I go, I don't feel the need.

                or double up on rubbers...

I think its a good idea. Heard of those who go to the range n commit suicide? How do u know they're not going to take a few friendly shooters out? There is a RISK. Body armor will help minimize life threatening risks from freak accidents n other direct n indirect threats. This hobby of ours is associated with risks that we choose to accept in one form or another. I shoot IPSEC every now n then and always thought about wearing a ballistic vest the next time around. Just never got around to buying one. Not a bad idea at all.

accidents do happen on the road right?

going to the range is a calculated risk. people are shooting live ammos not blanks and freak accidents do happen. although there's a lot of competent shooters but for some unknown twist of fate bad things do happen.

am i being paranoid or just being prepared.

yep, it actually happened in one indoor shooting range in our area. the dude rented a gun a decided to pull the trigger inside. what if he goes ape***** before pulling the trigger to himself? good thing he only shot himself not other shooters.

Bad idea. Doubling up rubbers would be more likely to cause both condoms to break from friction and is not advised. One is safer than more than one.

I thought body armor was a restricted item reserved for those with "special" permission?
