What would be a good "trunk gun"

I am wondering what would be the best gun to have in the trunk of your car if the unthinkable happened. Say a psycho at work brings a shotgun to work and starts killing fellow co-workers. Your car is 10 yards from your desk and you make a clean break and retreive your weapon. What would be the quickest weapon to bring into action (unloaded on arrival) and where and how would you stow the ammo? Keep in consideration it would be nice to have your offlist AK with you but law enforcement, DA and the family of the scumbag you put down might not see it your way.

I can't say. Every time I put a gun in my trunk, my trunk monkey has a field day with it.

hmm either pistol or shotgun are my thoughts.

The shotgun cause it doesn't have to be locked, but then again you DO have to load it round by round

vs a pistol locked up with loaded mags next to it, pop in a mag, rack it, good to go....
I guess it depends on how big your trunk also is and how much you want to risk the chance that your car gets stolen along with your gun....I say shotgun cause its cheaper, and less likely to get into trouble or conflict with an LEO who doesn't know the law.

a pump shotgun should do the trick for that situation. wood stock so it looks pc as possible. can you get a ccw permit? because thats alot faster and closer than 10 yards.

A beater SKS. Lots of range, little recoil, cheap, intended for rough treatment. No worries about concealed.

                Stay off school grounds.

There are still the two problems of (a) someone breaking into your trunk and (b) the idea that if you have time to open your trunk, get a rifle, load it and deploy, you also probably have time to drive away. So a 'trunk gun' had better be a response to a real deep kimchi problem where mobility is not an option.

One nice pump shotgun and a belt of 00 buckshot.

Very effective at close range, limits collateral damage, and if it gets stolen

Younger days when cars had big trunks, I had a shotgun in a metal box bolted to the trunk w/lock. Kept the trunk monkey from going Ape with it.

I agree with Librarian, a Chicom or beat up Ruski/Yugo SKS would be the way to go. Not worth a whole lot (sadly, this may not be true anymore), tough as nails, 10 rounds of 7.62x39 will give you plenty of fire power, keep the ammo in stripper clips and it loads almost as fast as a magazine, more than combat accurate, and 100% PRK legal. My problem is my SKS is a minty fresh Russian that I couldn't bare to beat up

If you are going to carry a shotgun, get some low recoil slugs and practice and learn your point of aim/point of impact. If there was some sort of hostage situation, throwing a bunch of pellets isn't the best idea when precision is needed. Load buckshot, slug, buckshot, slug, etc. That way if you need either one, its only a rack away.

a politically correct rifle like the Mini 14 with quality 10 round mags would work well. A handy carbine length rifle has many advantages over a pistol.
When an armed citizen stops a crazy person, the media ususally ignores it and does not want to acknowledge that citizens with guns is a good thing...very little coverage. But if you use an "assault weapon" style weapon...they will run all kinds of stories that there is chaos is in the streets and shootouts with machine guns.

Here is a case where people actually found themselves in a similar situation
Blogger adalah alat publikasi blog gratis dari Google untuk memudahkan Anda bertukar pikiran dengan dunia. Blogger memudahkan Anda mengirim teks, foto, dan video ke blog pribadi atau tim Anda.

If I remember correctly, there was another shooting rampage that was stopped by armed civilians, or students that went to their cars and got weapons. Does anyone know any other real world situations?

If you ever have to actually defend yourself and fellow classmates/co workers. You want to make sure you do it legally and as socially, politically acceptable as possible because people all over world may read about it which means all the anti gun people will get all worked up.

I have to leave my trunk gun at home when I go to California...
