As long as you are not brandishing it, or have it loaded, there isn't much that they can do about it. Aside from take it away because they don't know the law... I used to have a firebird, which had no real trunk. When we would go shooting, we would pile all of the rifles and shotguns in plain sight in the back. Let me tell you, nothing cuts down on tailgaters like a small arsenal and a car full of young guys. People would come flying up on us on the freeway, and ride our @$$ sometimes (and no, we were NOT in the fast lane). After about 3-4 secondes, you could see them do a double-take, and then they would slam on their brakes and drop WAY back. The cops saw it a couple of times too, and never said Boo.

If you don't want tailgaters, try towing a cannon with the muzzle pointing backwards! It always has amazed me that some people will still tailgate even when looking straight down a 3" bore though. As far as LEOs go, I've had a number of them pull up next to me and give me a thumbs up. Then there was this one VCSO who pulled up next to me, lit me up and let me know that the loose und of a strap was dragging. I got a little nervous when I saw the lights but, I wasn't worried since I was pulling a gun owned by another VCSO.

We need to get back to the idea of being able to ask a person, at the time of hire, if they're going to go crazy and shoot up the office if someone sneezes in their direction.

"Man-up, if I fire you, will you get so f***ing p***ed off that you'll need to come back here and shoot innocent persons?"

      If he answers yes.....
