If the buyer wants to offer less money they should be asking when pm's are being exchanged. I would never show up to meet with someone without already having an agreed upon price - that's just a waste of my time if someone is going to offer me a price I'm not willing to consider.

Buyers Negotiating During Transfer Process

I don't think I would even negotiate if the gun had an undisclosed cosmetic flaw. In that case, I would simply point out the flaw and say that I won't purchase. If the seller wants to offer a lower price, OK - sure - I'll listen and say yes or no. But, I'm not going to be the first to offer a lower price. I came to buy the item that was described. I don't like surprises - that's when bad decisions are made. I try to go into every transaction ready to either buy or walk away.He who exercises no forethought but makes light of his opponents is sure to be captured by them.

So far I've only had one experience where the buyer tried to renegotiate. The worst part was he asked to pay $60 less the agreed price after DROS was started. I got upset and worried since DROS has started. I told him that we already agreed on the price and I had quite a few people wanting the item. He then pulls out $60 from his back pocket. Lesson learned. Now I always make sure the buyer knows that before we meet he/she also agree on the price. Exception is if he/she points out the flaws then a renegotiation can be considered.Comment

PLEASE help put an end to this behavior and POST THAT INFORMATION IN YOUR iTrader FEEDBACK ON THOSE MORONS so we all can know in advance the type of buyers they are.I've sold 2 gun on Calguns this year. Last week I sold a S&W 629-2. Both time after arriving at the LGS to complete the transfer both buyers tried to offer $100 less than agreed too. I guess this is just a rant, however, if you agree to a price then don't show up and try to negotiate again.
It seems that some buyers think that because you're selling you must be desperate. Fortunately, I'm not in that situation.
I guess seller beware. In both instances I was willing to walk away. In the end both ended up purchasing the gun for the original agreed price.
The first gun in question was a Gen4 17FDE. I had people send me PM's offering more than the original price. However, I sold the gun for less to the person who sent me the first PM and he still tried to offer less.
I guess that will teach me for trying to be a stand up guy.
Personally I would have been insulted and offended that this person had so little integrity and respect for my time.. I WOULD HAVE WALKED AWAY and sold to the next in line buyer, even if the offending moron offered to pay a premium on the spot to finish the transaction.
Like you I an not "economically challenged" and have no problem walking away from someone who is clearly "buying too much gun for their wallets" ...

^^^^ TOTAL FAIL and tagged to never do business with!I agree that a clearly negotiated price should be honored but what's the definition of agreed upon price? If the seller says "I'd like to buy it", that doesn't mean that they can't ask if you'll take less than asking price when you meet. It's just a question and I don't think you should be offended. You can decline. However, if the buyer agrees to meet they should be prepared to pay full asking if seller declines, as long as the condition is as advertised. It would be wrong to waste the seller's time if the buyer was not prepared to pay the asking price.

I just noticed that you have only ONE iTrader feedback rating for yourself yet you can to have now completed THREE transactions. I alo just looked to see that you have not left ANY feedback for anyone else despite your described experience in your post. WHAT'S GOING ON?????I've sold 2 gun on Calguns this year. Exactly.LOL. While I've never had an issue and if I COMMIT to buy something at a given price, I will, I also understand that if I'm just going to meet someone and an inspection is warranted, I could see a negotiation of priced based on the inspection. Of course, the inspection could be made elsewhere prior to meeting at a FFL to do a PPT.
If the gun is described as immaculate, but upon inspection the grip is cracked and there are scratches on the finish, then more negotiations are warranted.
If the gun is described as immaculate, and the gun is indeed immaculate, then the agreed upon price should be ponied up without any bichin or moanin.sigpic

I almost never agree to buy something without inspecting it in person unless I have no choice or the value is not significant enough that it matters. That being said for me a deal isn't done until i've inspected the item in person and we've finalized the terms on the spot. That doesn't mean you go last-minute haggle a guy, have the asking price in hand and see if they are willing to negotiate again last minute...there is no harm in asking, if you take offense it's probably better people not deal with you anyways as your pride is in the way of the deal.Last edited by guns4life; 09-10-2014, 11:08 AM.sigpic

I've only had one transaction on CG go "bad" but it was a lack of knowledge on the part of both me and the seller. I bought a mag (or a couple, I don't recall)storm. They were the right caliber, but for the wrong gun. Apparently "compact" mags don't fit the full size gun. Reached out to the seller, returned the mags and got a full refund, no problem. Both of us were adults and moved on.It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.Comment

Such a foreign concept nowadays.I've only had one transaction on CG go "bad" but it was a lack of knowledge on the part of both me and the seller. I bought a mag (or a couple, I don't recall)storm. The only CG interaction I've had was this past weekend - the buyer was extremely friendly and understanding when I left my driver's license at home (across town might I add). I felt so terrible but he was so nice about it. He waited for me to go home and get it and drive back. I sent him home with a hefty bag of 9mm and 45 casings since he reloads.Rachael.Comment

You can also ask if they are willing to pay $100 more than the price agreed upon. It's the other side of the same token

Havent had it happen to me, but if a buyer decides to re-open the negotiations process I am raising the price by double what they lower it. Offer me $50 less, I'm raising it $100 and might let it go for $50 dollars less than my new price. I don't sell enough stuff to have this happen though, I'm always the buyer buying at the agreed upon price lol."You see in this world theres two kinds of people my friend.
