This, communication is key. I don't care about folks getting upset that I sold it to someone that didn't post "I'll take it" first. Whoever contacts me first with all of the pertinent information will get first dibs. Communication.

PMs are more important to me than posting in a thread.

Until there is a personal communication where we have agreed upon (1) A price, (2) a FFL, and (3) a time, nothing else matters.

The rule USED to be, "1st I'll take it,followed by a PM gets it"

But, Calguns ain't what it used to be. And I haven't even been here that long.

Sad, but true. We really need a minimum post count before the the marketplace is accessible. That will weed out some of the bad apples. Say...100 posts?

Yeah. But, posts in OT don't count!

This. From my Itrader I obviously have not sold anything here, but I have purchased. If I were to sell, I'd extend this courtesy to the prospective buyer, and as such I expect it when requesting info/ making offers to sellers.

Just bringing up a similar topic is sellers who gets all upset that a buyer is not responding fast enough but takes their precious time to send the item out. If your willing to rush a buyer to pay up, have the courtesy to rush out your item too!

Absolutely, OT shouldn't count. You could just start a thread about FP's basement, LEO shooting transients, and women with pointy elbows, you'd be at 100 in no time!

Send both, that's what I do. I make sure one way or the other the seller see's I'm interested and if I'm selling I get back to everyone as fast as I can and look at both in my messages and post to see who's interested and well who ever give me cash in hand or drops payment into my PayPal gets it....

REMARKABLY, "I'll take it" is not considered a valid mailing address by the USPS.

If you're taking it, then you'd better send me a snail mail address in a PM or e-mail. If I get one of each, I'll compare the time index to see who was first. Posting something in my sales thread, will get you a BIG yawn... but it WON'T get you what I'm selling.

I operate the same way on things I want to buy.

And another thing, I give 2 ****s about anyone post I'll take it or if you where the first one to message, I'm sorry but who ever pays up gets it and usually I meet same day or following morning but if it has to be ship, I ship same day or following day.. I don't have time to wait for the following weekend or whatever because there's that chance that maybe you'll flake out and well if I happen to still have it sure but if some else comes by sooner then owells.. I like to be quick and get pay'ed quick and also like to have my buyers happy! as you can see my iTrader reflects that ha ha

I buy via pm, then post in the thread to confirm to all - including the seller - that it is mine. Basically marking my territory.

I think it should be at least 1000 if were going to make that athing.

and having dealt with flakey sellers I can give a rats *** who posted an I'll take it. First person to meet up gets it. If you REALLY want it then you will paypal a small deposit that will go towards purchase if we cant meet that day. If you flake that small deposit gets lost.

                                Great thread.
I've only been buying here and being transparent seems to be most adopted.
"I'll take it" followed by a (non conditional PM) is how I think it should work. If you aren't willing to make the drive to the seller, don't be surprised if they sell it to someone else closer.
That said, if you can negotiate a meeting place closer, that's great.
I think the post time stamp is gold. I've had PMs delay when sent from my cell phone and who's to say who was really first when it comes to a pm. It's not like there's going to be an investigation or anything.
As a buyer I like the explicit terms spelled out in the ad.
I don't like the auction stuff here and think breaking your word sucks too.
I'm going to start selling some handguns soon so I hope my experience stays positive.

As for firearm accessories it seems a little more slack and there, the experiences have been less than perfect but not worth fussing over a $40.00 whatever.
Still the best marketplace I've found.
