PM sent vs I'll Take it

What he says, I always list items PM Me, questions are invited BUT 1st PM saying "I will Take It" gets it...Comment

I usually don't even post an "I'll take it" or "pm sent". I just send a pm to the seller with my offer and cell phone # and tell them to contact me via text if they want to sell. Then we work out a time and place. If they don't like my offer, they don't call back and it's no big deal.
I do this only when I think the seller is asking to much for an item and I can get that item online for 1% to 5% more than they are asking shipped to my door without all the drama. If I think the price is fair, then I give asking price.Comment

When buying a gun here at Calguns.
I typically PM the seller. I rarely post up "I will take it" on a gun purchase.
My reasoning?
I don't like the notion of anyone knowing what I have. The DOJ knows because of the paperwork.
I just don't like advertising what I own, how many I own and what I paid.
My paranoia has served me well for a very long time.

Sellers choice.
Personally I'd rather sell to a member who has been around a while with a lot of successful itrades, than a new guy who just happened to have seen the ad and responded first.
The way I see it, is that there is a higher chance ( though by no means guaranteed ) that the newb will flake...and I'd rather not waste a couple hours out of my precious weekend if I can help it.
YMMV.

If I'm a seller, a PM or a reply to the tread as an "I'll Take It" are both equal in my book, I just look at the time stamp and reply in the order they are received.Comment

^^ This, My itrader was screwed up cause a member posted I'll take it then wanted me to meet a certain time/day (about 3-5 days from PM) at the FFL he wanted to use, which I never agreed to. When another member said he would meet the next morning at an agreed FFL and pay asking price. There is "I'll take it" abuse going on. You see some guy calling it right when the post comes out and then days later the seller is bumping the thread. Why force the seller to wait on/deal with some guy just staking dibs on a purchase he knows nothing about yet. Seller should be selling to the first serious buyer that he was had conversations with (even on the phone). IMO is first serious "I'll take it" (which involves more than a post on the thread) as determined by the seller.Originally posted by Bobby RiciglianoI like FDE because when I pose for pictures with my FDE guns it makes me look more like an operator.Originally posted by Nutnfancy"Preserve your gat"Comment

I've been buying and selling on internet forums since 1996... that would be almost 2 decades now.
It didn't used to be this way, but in this day and age, HALF... yes HALF of the people who say "I'LL TAKE IT" will eventually NOT TAKE IT.
This is what the times have become.
Here's another Factoid:
Let's say I get 2 PM's for something I'm selling. The first one that arrives is from a new member. The second one that arrives a few minutes later is from an experienced member with a high iTrader rating.
I will almost always sell it to the second guy.
What??? That's unfair, right?
No. HALF... yes HALF of guys who show no iTrader rating or new member will never follow through on the PM or suddenly disappear right before the exchange will go down. Did I say half?
A deal that doesn't follow through is very time consuming. You waste time and lose the potential to sell to other more legit buyers.
A thread that has been marked with "I'll take it" will lose potential for new buyers.
That's why I say in many of my For Sale threads: "Do not mark this thread with I'll take it, instead, send me a PM"
I will then decide on who I'm going to sell it to, as I don't have the time and patience to have a 50% probability of getting screwed over. That's just how it is, I'm not Walmart.Last edited by caliberetta; 04-07-2014, 12:35 AM.Comment

I find it weird to comment "PM Sent." If you sent them a PM, chances are they'll get a notification for it before they see your comment telling them you sent one.
Instead, I prefer "I'll take it" followed by a PM if serious and an "I'm interested" if not 100% sure and still have questions via PM. Those would get preference over anything else.Illustrator and Graphic Designer

Here's one for you...1.5 weeks ago some guy PM'd me & asked about some .22 ammo, cool. He said he was out of the country & asked if we could meet when he got back, I said no problem. He PM'd again & asked if I'd "hold" 4 bricks for 4/7 & asked for a better deal. So...He's out of the country, new on here, wants me to "hold" ammo & wants a better deal! Really? I don't think so.
This all at a small loss for me BTW.Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!Comment

You will find "I will take it" or a "PM sent" often means nothing when dealing with new Junior members. Sad, but it has been my experience.....Comment

I would think a "PM Sent" means, "I'm contacting you with some questions or an offer"
whereas "I'll take it" means "I am committing to buy it at the listed price".
But that's just me. As for people being flakes, um... "Welcome, Neo, to the Real World"
