How many guns to the range?

For pistols it used to be at least 4 but started noticing the groups opening up so I'm trying to keep it to two and in two different calibers.
There's also that issue of keeping them clean.
For long guns its still three or four. I start with the larger calibers and work my way down.

If I am taking someone to the range for their first time, I'll bring a representative sampling of all the different firearms I own for them to try. That usually ends up being 8-10 handguns, 6-8 rifles, 2-3 shotguns, or some combination, depending on the range.

If it's just fellow shooters going along with me, I'll bring anything they request. Otherwise, I'll grab whatever is next in the rotation to practice with from my 'social purposes" collection - that usually means a revolver and a semi-auto at the pistol range or a couple of long guns.

If it's just me, I will take either the house revolver or my preferred semi-auto pistol and try to just concentrate on that with a few hundred rounds PLUS one random grab from the back of the safe just to function check one of my old warhorses. Range employees love to point and smile when I come in for "serious practice" with my Nighthawk GRP and my Mauser Broomhandle.

Depends on the range, who's coming with and what I got new in the last weeks between the last range visit but most I have ever is 10... 8 pistols 2 rifles... that's plenty enough for me in a day

Depends on......

- what I need test, dial in, or break in

- how much time I'll have at the range, where most times it's just for an hour or less

- if I'll be at an outdoor range or BLM all day, then most or all of them

- how lazy I am with having to clean everything after each range trip (I'm anal so I want my guns clean, but lazy to clean them half the time)

I don't. I want their first experience to be positive. I have had a few offer and I always assure them that once they make this a habit that I'll take them up on their foolish offer.

To the range I normally bring 3-4. Going on a day trip out to the woods, anywhere from 5-12. I never bring all of them out in one trip anymore, or even more than half of them. It got to be a problem long ago making sure I brought ammo in each and every caliber, let alone getting them all in bags/cases and to the car (do I even have enough cases for all of them at once? Probably not).

Even when I bring a bunch of them, I generally pick a few calibers and bring multiple guns for each. Last time out I went with just .45ACP and 7.62x39. Next time I plan to take the 9mm's and 5.56's.

I usually only bring one from each category (don't need more than one Mosin), but don't always have time to shoot each one. Hah.

Used to bring in the vicinity of 10 or more, and I would end up shooting a box with one and switch to another gun/caliber. Rinse and repeat. Now more often than not I just bring a max of 4 guns and a max of 2 calibers.

I couldn't shoot that many in a day let alone haul that many at one time.

I take anywhere from one to forty or so depending on what I feel like or need to do. Some may just need function testing, some are brought for load testing, some just for fun. Depending on the range, some are brought for SD while camping at the range. I took 7 .22lr handguns to a Women On Target event last weekend and only two were used. When I go to Angeles for a day, I tend to take one or two 50s, a 1919, a .410 or 3 and a variety of other long guns. Other than WOT and classes, I haven't taken a handgun to a range in years. If I want to shoot handguns, I just do it at home.

Wow sucks to be you. I wish I had a couple of 50's, a 1919 and could shoot pistols in my backyard. Need an adopted son by chance?

Back to the OP I used to take 4-7 firearms. After cleaning them, I realized it was a pain in the butt to clean that many. My friends that go shooting with me always ask me to bring "this one and that one" but once I ask them to help clean them they usually tell me "bring whatever". So now its 1-2 and very rarely 3.

all of them. unfortunately, I only have 2 pistols and a rifle. will be getting more in due time.
I've seen people bring wheelbarrows and hand wagons full of ammo, 5+ pistols, and 6+ rifles before. The guy was driving a lifted Silverado. The picture fits, lol.
