Angeles range reloading store problem

OP, you WANT advice? Take the advice of people here and take it as a cheap lesson learned. End of story. And don't piss on someone's business just because you don't like their return policy. Taking back YOUR primers IS a liability to them.

That's just it. There is no responsibility on their end and no one is asking for any from them.

I rolled over the 'double standard' argument last night and came away with the conclusion its total BS.

If I, as a customer, were asked advice in the store by another customer... say; which primers were for .223... and ended up having a brain failure and said the wrong primers... once I noticed my error I'd feel some shame. I'd actually look for the guy I steered wrong at the range whenever I went so I could ask how it worked out.... and if he said he couldn't use them and the guy at the store just kept saying 'nothing I can do'... I'd offer to pay for his range fees for the day or give him a box of fifty rounds... or something....

I also ran a part time business for ten years and didn't make customers eat my mistakes..... and I had a couple expensive mistakes where my suggested product or solution didn't cut it / get the job done that I said it would.... so one way or another I made it right...

Their primers they sold me... that were the wrong item... that they recommended.

But thanks.... I will be more careful (lesson learned #1)... but I will also never shop there again (lesson learned #2).... also; the fact that I can get primers for half and powder about 1/3 less online means one pack of 1000 primers and one pound of powder knocks out the hazmat fee and anything else I buy that is cheaper is all savings. So I think 'lesson learned #3' is I can save money by not working with those people. Woot!

and I don't recall asking for advice here on the thread. I just wanted to let people know about my experience there.

You are right! The Cashier could have let you keep the primers and give you money (Yes store credit is money). In This economy cashiers don't need to keep their jobs. And I am sure that they would not have minded going to prison for committing a federal Offence by taking the primers back and / or gone to jail for stealing. Just for you!!! Cause you have done your homework and know that it is illegal to take back, just to name a few, Powder, Primers, and Ammunition. He didn't ask who helped you because there is just 1 other person who could have helped you (there are just 2 people that I know of that work there).

You said that you are new to reloading. I'm sure that you will figure things out eventually in the mean time sell the primers here on calguns.

many people have used those 6.5 primers in 223. it says not to on the box now but that was not always the case.

primer cups are thicker on the 7.5s and better suited for use in higher pressure rounds like 223. I believe the primer cups are the same thickness on the CCI 400 as they are on the rem 6.5

a downloaded 223 may be perfectly fine if you keep your pressures down with an appropriate powder but given your small amount of reloading experience, its probably not the best choice. They were only $40...just keep them for a day you might get into a rifle that needs them of you know enough about reloading to use them safely in an "off label" kind of way.

Thanks. I have a load, I already use, that is only around 42,X00 psi. I'll give it a try. The 69gn matchking with 8208.

Not your fault if I blow it. I've been reading the same thing in other places (re: low pressure load would be ok). So I was planning on giving it a try.

As to buying online vs in store.

Yes you can save money if you order in quantity to offset hazmat, and the stuff is in stock. I dont like ordering online unless its for about $300 or more to cover shipping/hazmat.

It's *ALWAYS* nice, to be able to run to a local store and pickup whatever I need RIGHT NOW. Even though I pay more. I'm supporting a local business with a retail building which has more overhead than online stores for the convenience of picking up what I need RIGHT NOW.

As to the reloading store at Angeles- Only been in there twice since it isnt local to me. Never had a problem, and they're actually very well stocked compared to most places. Even Ammo Bros Ontario doesnt have anywhere near as much reloading supplies. And as I recall, the reloading store is cheaper.

Even the reloading store- do they reload themselves? I dont know the answer to that. Just because they run a retail store selling a product, doesnt mean they're actually experts on those products. As I said- I dont know the guys or their reloading knowledge- I dont ask. I dont need to. I know what I want when I go in.

Exactly , but when you are new you want to ask for advice and not just take what you read in a book as 100% right. So I ask as many question as I can. And if the sales guy answers them with confidense, then I feel more at ease when making a choice.

Now if I've been doing this for awhile then I will stick with what I know. But I'm new so I ask.

I understand that some items can not be returned but if the clerk recommended a work product, help the guy out. I'm all for making money but a little bit goes along way to keep that customer.

I've bought a bunch of things from Angeles reload store. The older guy has always been great answering my noob questions and so I buy all the stuff from him. I know I could have save quite a bit buying from midway/Cabelas/Brownells but I didn't cause he was a nice guy and took his time with me(he was the only person there and busy with phone calls).

Local to *me* is a number of places- I see what they have on the shelves. I almost always walk out buying something just to support a local shop- even if they dont have the item I'm looking for. Though I still check the local shop that was THE WORST price gouger during the crisis, they're low on my list.... I'll never forget them offering primers at $58/1k....

Not everyone is saying I'm wrong. The people who somewhat or do side with me just don't keep repeat posting. Also; with the negativity from those who are repeat posting... I don't see why most people would jump in to agree with me when they probably think you'll all probably attack them also... There are a lot of threads where once the negative posters start en-mass; most everyone else clears out. I know since I've dropped in to a couple to agree with the OP since hardly anyone else was.

As to the opponents and me... Sure; you'll get lip. A: I don't respect your opinion. B: I didn't ask for your opinion (on the thread issue; I did ask you about local shops). C: you keep talking.... why would you expect to not get it?

so thread trollers aside; if you like high prices, staff not interested in helping with product problems they caused (re: stonewalling with "nothing I can do" if you have a problem), and to be given bad reloading advice... try the reloading store at angeles range!

(but I'd recommend double checking anything they say before using products purchased there)
