I wouldn't be surprise if any store insurance weren't covered for riots. I know for a fact that my health insurance specifically says that any injuries sustained from a riot are not covered

whoa whoa whoa, isn't that little presumtuous? they must be so unsavvy when you really have to question if there IS insurance offered in shady neighborhoods that are known to be high risk areas for business. this is assuming that a mom and pop operation can cover such expense. this is also assuming that insurance companies are so beautiful and magnanimus that they cover 100% of everything when it's more like 60% or less and you gotta fight them every inch. not even fire and flood insurance on your own home cover 100%. what makes you think someone watching their entire life's livelihood go up in smoke and out in looter hands is something tolerable?

Many polices have war and civil unrest exclusions.

Actually college meant deferment in military service. If you went to college you can opt to go sometime later.

That military knowledge is what enabled the Koreans to set up such an effective defense. They knew how to organize.

Wait till gas hits $8.00/Ga. and a hurricane hits the gulf again. It (riots) will happen.

Yep that's sad but so true.

I don't understand the mentality of "looters"and "rioters". Take the LA Riot, so they were pissed off at the cops for beating a guy. sue the cops protest the cops but to go crazy in your own neighborhood and attack others that weren't involved in the attack?

It comes down to jealously they are pissed off because they aren't smart enough to improve their own lives. It trips me out when someone born and raised here talking about illegal immigrants taking their jobs.

If any idiots want to burn down other non gas business then bring it on cause I'm locking and loading to my family business. Not because the products are important I care less but don't try to take any of my crap.

The nice thing about the next set of riots is that everyone is well aware of how effective those merchants were at protecting their buisnesses.

I would expect a much higher body count next time, but I won't be shedding any tears for looters that catch a bit of lead.

It would be kinda F-ed up to burn down gas stations because of gas prices, those owners don't make any of the money on gas, in fact they often lose money on it but make it up with impulse buy items. Fact is they hate the high prices as much as anyone.

Anyways they are not really that high, Americans are just spoiled. Europe already pays more than $8 for gas, in fact in France, gas runs nearly $10.

turkey is paying 11 plus a gallon. also europes' gasoline is heavily taxed and subsidized. also their countries and communities are not as spread out as tbhe US. it does not help that people commute so far to work everyday when they could have chosen to live closer to work and that would lessen demand. but we have yet to pay for 135 oil. when that happens people will be pissed beyond belief.

i personally think oil is overly speculated and the price is not the real price it should be. the dollar is worthless and it's cheaper to use it. until the dollar gets srtong we will continue to see oil go higher.

Hopefully the good folks in LA will respond to their inevitable defeat in a gentlemanly manner. I'm going to the game Thursday & spending next weekend in beautiful East Sandwich, MA. Four games & we're done?

Of course they were. We obviously cannot see what they were shooting at, the reporter did say they were 'in the middle' we may not see the looters trying to approach the shop or whatever.

That's what I would do, no question about it.

Look at the tyranny of party -- at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty -- a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes -- and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction...
