it's just such a common allegation and if there's any truth to it seems like they left the korean and black store owners out to dry. rioters and looting are just a **** situation to begin with, it doesn't end up helping, makes tensions worse, but it's a natural outcome nevertheless.

i guess rioters and looters feel they're showin' the man how it is... well it's still the same way, kthxbye.

I just think their marksmanship sucks.

It's a riot. Anyone who caught a bullet from them probably had it coming and, had I been in their situation, I would have been doing the exact same thing. Thems the breaks kids.

Re LA covering West LA & BH to the detriment of areas hardest hit, I really don't recall it that way. I was out & about, saw some LAPD in the western part of the city but not an overwhelming contingent. Much contempt was voiced regarding Chief Gates & Mayor Bradley. IIRC, Gates was embroiled in his latest controversy and Bradley was leading the charge to get him out.

The number of 54 (or 62?) killed over the weekend sounds about right. I wonder what the average weekend death toll is nowadays?

              Bottom line...

I appreciate everyone's input here, especially keeping on topic on gun issues: those dudes were using Glocks.

But seriously, two things to learn from this horrible time in LA History:
1.) Become educated in our laws of using leathal force in ALL situations or events.
2.) Don't let emotions cloud your judgement.

Another thing to note that prior to the riots, tension between store owners and the community was on the rise. Therefore, the trial was the catalyst to the riots. Nothing wrong with protecting your life and home. But this is another sad indentation in our neighborhood...of how ugly racism, injustice and unwarranted frustrations can bloom into an apocalyptic future.

Gun ownership does not only teach us to be responsible law abiding citizens, but also being part of the American brotherhood.

Let's consider to keep the peace and overlook the dirty looks; life is short and temporary. Keep on shooting family and continue on protecting the livelihood of our fellow bretherens.

              'Nuff said.

If you owned a store that is paying your bills, feeding your family, How far would you go to protect it? No LEO for 2+days and everyone is looting. now what do you do? Myself anyone breaking thru the door/window will be a statistic. What happened to looters will be shot on site?

We don't know exactly who or what was being shot at. It's impossible from watching that video to know if it was justified or not, other than the people in the car that came up and shot at them. As for the looters, they are worthless scum of the earth as far as I am concerned. Would'nt have broken my heart if some of them got shot.

does it really matter who or what they are shooting at?? at that time, they believed that shooting their handguns would deter a larger event. when there was a direct threat, they got into the shooting stance.

i hope you guys know that all koreans must go to the military or go to college. most koreans opt to go into the military becauce they can't get into college or can't afford it.

during the LA riots, i was in HS. my dad just retired from the R.O.K. Marines. my dad was a business owner in O.C.

the O.C. chapter of R.O.K Marine Corp. gathered their guns and headed to LA to help out the store owners. they flew the korean flag as they got closer to the stores so they won't get fired upon.

the whole situation is F-UP!!! a lot of the business owners did not have insurance because they can't afford the premiums. more so, if they lost their store, they would lose everthing!!!

is protecting your livelyhood worth protecting??

                        [QUOTE=Diabolus;1249299][QUOTE]

Diabolus, i really don't understand by "savvy business owners?" if you are barely making a living, how can you afford insurance?

your home is not any different than a business. if your business supports your living, isn't it worth protecting??? i mean...what makes your house more important than your place of work?? say your place of employment burnt down and everyone lost your job. and you saw the person who set the fire, would you try to stop that person?? if what you are saying is true, then you would let the person burn the business down because "your home is a different matter".

                        do you see my point??

I remember this on the news. Does anyone have/remember the one where there were 2 korean store owners that were up on the roof of their stores with ar15's, ak47s and scoped rifles doing the same thing .. well protecting their property? If ican recall it was a shot taken from a helicopter.
