Donation sent!!! I hope it is not too late for you to accept those.

I would agree that the mess left behind is unacceptable. That is very embarrassing to say the least. I would like to apologize to the people of NV, BLM and thank Jim and Ron for cleaning up OUR mess.

A few suggestions might help avoid this problem next time.

    - No burning of trash the day you are leaving.
    - No burning of glass or metal at all.
    - Take your own toilet and pack out your own poo. I brought my own toilet and took care of my own poo. I think a few others did the same. I believe a requirement for the Rubicon and many 4x4 trails is that every vehicle must have a toilet and the people must pack out their own poo for reason just like this.

    Just a thought.

      - No one leaves until the place is clean.

Here's a thought although you guys looked pretty loaded down with gear already. Get the tub out of a broken washing machine for your fire pit. It lights easy, burns great, you don't need as much wood, and is an all around great way to have a fire.

I will be sending a donation too. and I totally agree with some of the suggestions posted above for future trips. I was under the impression that we were all leaving at the same time, but when I woke up, my group was more than halfway pack and we were some of the first to leave, I had to rush to get packed to be able to leave with them cause I did not know how to get back to SOCAL. I did however ensured that I took all my trash with me. The only thing that I see that I left out there was a piece of armor that I found in the playa the first day that were there. I was planning on bringing it back with me cause it was good armor but since I had to leave in a rush I totally forgot about it. it is very sad looking at those pics. Thank you Jim for going out there and cleaning up our mess.

WOW! Thanks Jim and Ron for going back and cleaning our mess. I'll be sending a donation as well.

I can't believe people thought glass and metal would burn in the fire

Yeah. sorry about the early morning wake up Chief. As it was we didn't make it home until Midnight. I don't think we could have fit any more trash in the Uhaul anyway. Next year the So Cal group is going to spend Sunday night in Reno, so we will be the last to leave the Playa

We had one of those little brass, above ground fire rings at our end of the camp (thanks DocFuhr) and it worked fine.
We also packed out our garbage instead of burning it, but it looks like I missed a couple manhole pieces.
Regardless, glad I contributed, thanks to those that went back.

Thank you to those who went back.

There really is no excuse for how we left that place.

next time will be different, it has to be.

Many thanks to Jim and Ron for going up and doing the dirty deed.
On the fire pits, a buddy of mine takes old propane or any large gas tanks/cylinders and cuts the ends off, welds legs and a rebar ring around the outside to the end caps and cuts some holes for ventilation. These things make great fire pits.

Randy, to expand on your washing machine drum fire pit, I'd just like to mention my former neighbors and I used one during our RV camping trips and they worked well. We also used it at the Rose Parade and if I had charged $5 for all the people who came to share the heat, I would have been able to buy a new rifle.

What you do is cut out the agitator from the bottom. Now you have a nice hole for the ash to fall thru. You put the drum up on 2 cinder blocks and wa la; you have yourself an inexpensive firepit.

Wow. I have to say I feel ashamed. I wish i would have done more to clean up. Me and my wife packed our trash. Unfortunately, we were kinda in a rush to get out cause I had to be up at 5am on monday morning (and as it was we didn't get back till 12:30 and that didn't include unpacking).

I think a bit of better planning on our part to make sure we can stay the whole time and also more awareness of what actually needs to be done will help us all.

Big Thanks to those who went out to clean up after us! I feel indebted to you all!

(BTW: who says a .223 can't go out to 1k yrds? I hope the Chiefs friend got picked up. That is my bad cause i shot him and didn't even think to be out there to get him!!)

Mrniceguy had a great time too. Probably one of the best trips EMC002 and I have ever done, but I agree it was really too d@@ hot. Anyone checking this post have a swamp cooler? Might be a good idea next time especially if someone gets heat stroke. +2 on dedeyes prop. The last night after the fire,(lol) was well spent sitting by the other fire, I thank you all for the times.

You guys got some extreme weather for this time of year. Heck, I was out there a week later only about 60 miles from where you guys were. It couldn't get over 70 degrees and the rain wouldn't let us have much fun. But we still managed to get over 100 miles of riding.
