But other than that, I personally did drive around before I left and picked up any loose trash or bags that may have escaped us during the police call and know the area was picked up pretty good. Mcubed posted pics as well after the main body of people had left, you can see that the area is pretty well cleaned up. As I said too, I will have more detailed pics tonight, once I get them I will post them for everyone to see.

Hopefully... at some point... we can see the pics; and/or just have a proper write up - of what we screwed up on... cleanup wise; so we can:

        A. Thank the people who did the cleanup.

        B. Learn from our mistakes.

I think his screen name is CHIGGA73. It was cool to watch in the spotting scope, it took well over a second for the bullets to hit in that area.

How many rounds did it take? I think it was well over a 1k yards

I believe it was 3 shots. One low, one high, and then he hit the bottom of the doll.

                    CLEAN-UP (PIX Attached)

At long last, here is the information on the clean-up effort. Instead of writing a long essay on how the camp was not left in pristine condition, I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Hopefully nobody will look at the pix and say "Gee.... The camp looks clean to me".

                    Pixs are in PDF format.

First and foremost, we ALL owe Ron and Jim a great big Thank you. If you wish to say Thanks personally, please email it to me and I will forward all the messages to both men. my email is Area52@westoverlegal.com. Instead of posting their personal email addresses without permission, I will collect any "Thank you" email you wish to send

Second, Thank you to all of you that contributed money to help pay for the clean-up trip. I sent Jim a check for $175 today.

And Third, well..... what can I say..... We all know the camp site was left looking like a trash pit. I'm not going to get into the whole pointing fingers game. We were ALL responsible for it (regardless of what time we actually left the camp). We all know this was completely unacceptable, disgraceful, and highly embarassing.

So lets all take our spanking here, admit we F'd up big time, and look forward.

                    ~Andrew

p.s. - Not to be a jerk, but you are all free to disagree with me and with our assessment of the situation. We are all adults and can disagree. If that is you, It was great to meet you, but please don't come on the trip next year.

Subject: Re: Shame on you all !!!!!
When you guys first got to the the upper Plya, It didn't look like this, did it? We have been going
there since the mid 80's and I think you'll remember seeing how pristine the area looked when you first
arrived. We have been cleaning up are mess every time we paid the place a visit and I think you guys can
                      do the same.
While we were out cleaning up, we ran in to some old friends camping over the Memorial day holidays,
they are local people from Reno. They asked us what we were doing ( they noticed the mess to, along
with the porta potties) and embarrassingly I told them I was cleaning up the mess you guys left behind.
This sure leaves a very sour note on Californians........ By the way this is a
Wilderness Area and if this keeps on happening, the BLM will close the area along with the Serria Club
right behind them. They are waiting just for something like this to happen to give them an excuse to have
BLM close the area and believe me they will!!
                      ....

Kind of says it all .

Really Sad, those pictures are disturbing, maybe leave the guns home and have a few local weekend classes on how to live in the outdoors. My Father trained me, I feel lucky, that mess really reflects poorly on the mindset of this site. You guys might consider a Camping Safety Course not unlike a good Hunter Safety Class before you become Persona Non Grata.

Clearly fire pits should have been raked for garbage with ashes spread and the toilets should have been picked up along with the waste disposed.

And it appears a large number of us... need to realize glass; and metal don't burn. Truly embarrassing to see what was put into those burn piles.

thats f'ed up! i thought i grabbed all my steel targets, but someone else must have picked a couple of them up, but to just leave that junk out there sucks azz!
i packed out all my garbage, although i am guilty of burning the pallets that were asked to be brought although no one wanted to use them or the large cardboard i also brought & burnt.
putting glass & metal debris in a fire is just dumb.
we should ALL pitch in to pay yhr guys who volenteered to clean up after us. i pitched in $15 last night. the rest of you should pitch in as well!

i to tried to do some clean up, but the fire pits looked bad.
i did see the pota potys on the way out. but thought they belonged to the group still there when i pulled out.

and i have a check in the mail to help out also. i would have gone back up my self. (just the jeep this time).
but not knowing about those and when they left. plus not able to get out of work so easy.

but i applaud those that went back to clean up "our" mess.
