Was driving with a friend out to a well-known BLM spot to do some shooting. On the way in we noticed a silver VW Golf parked on a hill overlooking the dirt road we were on. To our surprise, they were shooting DOWN AT THE ROAD WE WERE ON. They saw us, but continued to shoot their ARs, kicking up large clouds of dust about 10 feet to the left of the road ahead.
Luckily, we were back about 100 yards from where the shots were hitting. But it was still too close IMHO. We finally had to honk our horn to get them to stop so we could pass.
Just so it's clear. Rule #4 is to always know your target, what's behind it, above it, below it, to the left of it and to the right of it. If we hadn't been looking way up to our left, we would have driven right into their "fire-zone."
Never shoot at a road, or towards a road.
I'm posting this here, in the hope that one of the shooters will read this and realize how unsafe they were being.
