Posting your guns on facebook.

To be safe, I'd stay away. There is no need to let anyone, friend or not, to know what personal firearms you own. That's just inviting disaster.

I understand the paradigm of social networking sites and see why so many people are attacted to it, but I don't feel any need to be a part of it. I don't want strangers knowing what I look like, my kids look like, what city I live in, where I went to school, etc. All that information compiled together can backfire on me.

Stay safe and remember that the internet never forgets.

It's safe to assume that nothing you post on Facebook is private. No matter how much you lock your profile down, the privacy policies allow ten to do what ever they want with anything you post. Also, keep in mind that we are the product of Facebook now, it isn't about social networking anymore, its about advertising now.

That being said, I don't post pics of my guns but I do post pics of me, my wife and my friends targets and range trips. Including when we set up a doorway with a door (our range in a spot in the woods) and took turns sitting in a chair. Once the door was pulled open you had to stand up, draw and squeeze 5 shots off. If that video doesn't discourage thoughts of invading my home for a few hundred dollars...I don't think anything will.

I post tons of photos of myself and my guns. I want the government to know I have guns. If they come looking for them, I am not going to just give them up. That is the purpose behind the 2nd Amendment.

I respect your privacy decisions, but if the government tried to come after 80 million gun owners, are you just going to hide and watch them take me away or are you going to stand up and fight?

Plus I have a hunting license, a CCW, and own a gun shop. They know I have guns. That is why I have a safe and alarms. Come by when I am not home, it won't work. Come by when I am home, it won't work.

Put me in the "I don't worry about it" column.
