    How to dispose old ammo?

Hey I came across some ancient, corroded ammo. How do I get rid of these? I assume I shouldn't just throw them away?

many outdoor ranges have a special dump for misfires and such. slosa has one. i would assume all ranges would need a box to dump misfires into.

Take it to the Haz-mat drop off site. The local fire department usually has one....or a few. If not try the City or County for an approved drop off site.

            Post some pictures.

Need to know what you mean by old and corroded. As in how old and how corroded.

Make sure none of it is collectible. Unless, its common you might want to bring it by a gun show and run it by some ammo guru. Some people collect ammo types, and years, etc.

You could always pull the bullets (a must for this dumb idea), crimp the ends, tape marbles to the primer side and toss them off a bridge. Don't know if it would work, but might be fun.

+1 on fire department if you just want it gone.

I don't think it is anything special, all old .22's from the 1950's. I guess I should take another look...

Yeah I've got a box for some of them, all I remember is that it said something about lead lubricated, didn't sound safe! I'll have to find them and post more info.

I never knew the dump accepted cans of hyraulic oil.

If I were you I don't think I would advertise the fact that you dump oily waste.

Take it to your local PD and tell them you found it and want it to be disposed of. Happens in the PD I work for all the time and they will take it off your hands. We usually have our ammo picked-up and disposed of by the bomb squad.
