Smile Manteca Sportsmen Inc. 2012 General Schedule

Membership Information
Unfortunately, this topic is not an easy question to answer. Memberships vary. Generally, 1st year is expensive (roughly $150 depending on age. etc). Plus there is a work hour component to be completed. After your 1st year, cost is set at $50/year (no other fees) plus a minimal number of work hours (24). My best advice in this area is to give the club a call and speak with whomever is working the front office (or swing by and ask).

Archery Range: We offer two types of shooting target opportunities. Practice and Field ranges. Each range is equipped with yardage markers and Polypropylene butts backed by hay. The practice range consists of 5 targets ranging from 20-50 yards with two bow stands and a picnic table for relaxing and enjoying the day or tuning your equipment. The field range consists of a 9 target walking path through some of our wooded and grassy areas with shots ranging from 10-80 yards.

Events and Venues: (For specific information, please visit the club web site here). Note: You do not need to be a member to participate.

Women’s Training (Course Descriptions here). This is a great way to introduce your spouse, daughters, co-workers to firearms, or give her a tune-up in safety and basic skills. Thread Schedule here.

High Power Rifle – 1st Sunday of every month. We will be shooting the regular match. Details here. ($10) Squading starts at 8:30 AM and the match begins at 9:00. Participants may shoot any match type rifle and may use a scoped rifle if they wish. Additionally we have M1 Garands and Springfield1903s that may be borrowed ($20 for mandatory club ammo [60 rounds] on borrowed rifles).

The course of fire is our standard High Power Match. Note: If you bring the CMP paperwork to the match, and compete, the range master would be happy to sign if for you.

Winter Indoor Rimfire Shoot - (Jan through March) Free for members. $2 for non-members. Specific event thread here

Indoor Range is generally reserved for members only except for events open to the public. (ladies classes, monthly free kids shoot, and indoor rimfire shoots).

Cowboy Action Shooting – 1st Saturday and 4th Sunday every month. The Old West is still alive and shooting at Durham Ferry. We also host a major annual four day match. These competitions are called “Shoots” and are gatherings of like minded people for fun and fellowship as well as shooting events. Two Rivers Posse is an affiliate of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) which is the international organization that provides regulation and organization for the hundreds of SASS clubs and nearly 70,000 members from all over the world. The focus is on being safe, having fun and being safe.

Trap – Trap hours are Mon 9-noon (sometimes later depending on the crowd and availability of volunteers), Wed 6-10pm (might want to mention we have stadium lights) and Sat 10-4.

Pistol Fun Shoot– 2nd Sunday every month 9:00 AM ($10 and open to the public). Shoot static, moving and swinging objects. Shoot is often theme related, costumes worn on Halloween, targets and activity varied month to month. Regular range fee of $15 is waived for non-members with event registration.

More here.

Black Powder – 2nd Saturday every month. Follow link for pictures.

Youth Activities
MSI has a number of programs designed specifically for the youth. These include activities for 4-H, Sea Cadets, Junior ROTC, Scouts, Religious groups, and an open activity for youth under 18. Many of these groups meet monthly or weekly.

Naval Sea Cadets

Free kids shoot – 1st Friday every month at 6:00 pm. One of our most popular programs is an open to all (no cost) safety and shooting activity for youth under 18 years. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will learn gun safety and how to safely shoot .22 rifles on the club indoor range.
