Cop caught me....

Placer County Sheriffs baliffs (recent jury duty) one carried a Glock, another a Sig, saw a third old(er) guy with a Colt 1911... Descreetly noticed...

I was at a strip joint and there was a retired cop outside running security. I asked him what he was carrying and he said, "A Glock 40." I just grinned and asked him if he was the only person here professional enough to handle it (reference to the DEA agent who shot himself). He busted out laughing at that, then we talked about guns for a while and about how much we hated California.

i've got lots of friends who are LEO's that i shoot matches with. most of them carry Glocks at work. of course thats dept policy, not their own decision.

Hmmmm, to be honest I don't really ever look at cops guns. IF I were a LEO, I don't think I'd want strangers asking me about it either....but then I'm not super sociable either....meaning...that when strangers try to strike up a conversation with me, it puts me on guard...jeezzz, have I become jaded?

I asked a cop in Rohnert Park if his Glock was in the typical .40S&W that cops often have. Sure enough. I told him I liked the ones I have in 9mm, but I have nothing against .40. He didn't seem to want to continue the conversation.

I know that LAPD carries Glocks, and my local sheriffs carry Berettas

I ran into two Alameda PD officers at Starbucks once...I noticed that one officer had a Sig P226 holstered, and the other a Glock 22. I asked them why one of them got to carry a nice pistol, and why the other had the Glock(just to break the ice, and heckle them a little bit). The officer with the Sig said "I earned the right to carry my Sig, he was just issued his Glock." They both started laughing and talkin' smack back and forth...I guess brand whoring crosses all gun owner boundaries, LEO's included.

After some back and forth, I discovered that the officer carrying the Sig was training the officer carrying the Glock. The actual reason for them carrying different pistols was purely preference. They also told me that there is a (short) list of pistols they are allowed to carry, most .40S&W.

I use to sit row 1 at Qualcomm in the lower area and I would see the cops walking by and check out their guns.

Seems like everyone carried Glocks.

What was more interesting was this Asian cop who had what looked like ninchucks. I **** u not he had to small baton like devices connected by a rope.

Pretty sure department issue is the Glock 22.

In one run in with a cop i noticed he had a highly modified full size glock, even bigger maybe. Looked like a 35 or 22, definitely had a competition magwell at least. Looked like a race gun. He wasn't being the nicest in general so i avoided the question in general.

Are cops able to highly modify their carry weapons? I'm sure you can do slight mods but a competition magwell? Really?

He was in uniform - he was waiting to take custody of someone from LP.
He also showed me his backup - and his "other backup", but I don't recall what they were.

HAHA, Nice.

I have a few buddies like that, even a friend who is a motor officer - he always has at least 3 on him.
