    Cop caught me....

Cop caught me looking at his sidearm(Beretta 92FS). Looked a bit annoyed i was looking at the gun, but i told him nice Beretta, and he lighted up a bit. And asked if i own any guns and i just told him just a few long guns, but no handguns at the time being. So we talked a bit more, but i had to go, had some stuff to do after work.
But he was nice, once he figured i was just figuring out what he is carrying was all.
Anyway the rest of you gun check cops when you see them(i am assuming majority yes) and what different guns you spotted?

I spotted an officer in Levy County with a well worn high end 1911. I told him it was good to see a dept. that still trusted an officer to carry a 1911. He laughed and said that someone had just told him he couldn't carry it. He recited the policy that stated he could carry a 1911 if approved by the chief firearms instructor. The higher-up argued the policy with him, and he told him," I'm the chief firearms instructor, and I wrote the policy. You might have signed off on it, but I wrote it, and I approved this 1911."

I chatted with him a while and he said he understood why some places didn't allow cops to carry single action autos. Nothing wrong with the guns, but some of the officers. "It's a big boy gun," he told me.

I check out what the local guys are carrying, too. Martin County approves any personal sidearm from half a dozen manufacturers, and in calibers from 38 special and 9mm to 45acp and 45 LC. I used to see a wide variety, and still do among the older guys. The younger guys started carrying the dept issue flocks, then went to dept issue M&Ps.

I do. If I get the stink eye, I just ask them what they are carrying and that seems to lighten the mood.

I was checking out a cops Glock and he gave me this mean look and said "so why are you looking at my gun?!" I told him "haha I never knew LAPD started issuing you guys tupperware" and he started laughing right away. Turned out to be a very nice guy and checks on my from time to time.

I had my wallet out and a cop saw my CCW. he asked if I carry I said of course. He asked, "Now?" I said yes. I was wearing a ticked in dress shirt and was not printing. I could tell he was trying to guess where my firearm was, and for the sake of his job he should be adept at spotting any tell tale sign. I guess I passed the "concealed" part of the class!

I've only asked one officer about his sidearm. Caught me looking at it (was trying to figure out what it was). and then asked him. He was not amused and very shortly said Smith and Wesson. and finished writing the ticket haha

Have yet to have a friendly gun conversation with a cop
"Then there are sheepdogs. The sheepdogs are the bastions of safety. The sheepdog lives solely to protect the flock and confront the wolf. They live for the opportunity to be called to duty to protect the innocent. The sheepdog has fangs and the propensity for violence but hopes that he will not have to resort to it. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."

I had a good gun conversation w/ a cop once,
he had just pulled me over for speeding, and I was showing him my ccw he wanted to know how many guns I was carrying & I said 3, he gets real quiet & says, "Wow, they only let me carry two" we got along fine after that & he let me off with a warning

ive had a few conversations, mostly when they catch me looking and ask about it. only one has been a D-bag, the rest have all been really cool, asked me about mine and what not.

My local PD carries P226's. The Sherrifs seem to have a little more leeway. I've seen G22's, Springfield Loadeds, and Sigs.
