Punisher emblems on firearms?

Its a long read, but this study changed what I use for a house gun. I'm now using a S&W model 10 2". Will it make a difference? I don't know, But it did influence my choice.

The guns I rely on for personal defense are pretty much plain jane. Things like night sights, Pachmayr or Hogue grips, and illumination devices are about the only changes I make. It has nothing to do with how the gun or I might look in court later, but rather with function.

As was said above, if you are in front of a jury after a post self defense shooting, what is in question is whether the shoot was good or not.... and the state, in that situation, thinks it's not. While a prosecutor might want to make hay about a gun's appearance, and a gullible jury might give it weight, it really isn't going to have a lot to do with whether the shoot itself was bad on face.

A gun that I carry to hunt with, or that's a range toy, then cosmetics are more of a play for me.

But that's just the way I feel about it.

While the Punisher is undoubtedly a bad MoFo and a great movie, does anyone really think this is a smart emblem to put on a firearm you may end up using for self defense? I wonder if people think far enough ahead in their so-called "SHTF" fantasies to the inevitable litigation and court time that follows a shooting.

Imagine a non-gun enthusiast jury looking at your all black ninja pistol with the Punisher grips and Punisher magazine floor plates and how easy it would be for them to form the opinion that you were just itchin' to dish out some Punisher type vigilante justice to some bad guy. DUMB.

Does anyone actually carry around a LTC gun or even a UOC gun with such things on it? Is this really even an issue?

So what is worse? The types of people who sit around and fantasize about being the Punisher (supposedly) or the types who sit around and fantasize about getting into a self defense shooting with a black powder musket in order to minimize the potential of getting sued and/or looking bad to a jury?

If all I have is a Punisher pistol to defend my life with, that is what I will use. I honestly don't care. I am certainly not going to waste any of my time worrying about it nor trying to dictate my life to the concerns of soccer moms.

Seriously some of you worry about too much. It is a wonder you even step outside your own homes for fear of the gun hating jury.

I would suggest if you are worried about gettin sued and losing, then you might not want to shoot. Take cover, call the police, and be a good witness.

It seems pretty easy to me. The guy had a gun, he just shot the clerk at McDonalds, I was in fear for my life, and I shot him with my Punisher AR15 pistol to stop his actions.

Juries can and do take these things into account. Stupid yes, but that's California for you. We are all thugs to the minds of most Cali liberals to start with, give them any excuse and, well.

You shouldn't have to worry about what you do with your gun, so long as the shoot is good, but that's just not the way it works in this state. I read the transcript of one trial where the prosecutor was arguing that having Hogue grips on his pistol was a sign he wanted to make it "more lethal" and was intending to shoot someone.

I still have Hogue grips, but you get my point :P

My dream home defense weapon is a gold plated Saiga 12 AOW with a ten round drum magazine and Thompson style wood furniture and a visible laser sight (so I can shoot from the hip).

If it has it's tax stamp and is otherwise legit, I wouldn't be worried about it in a self defense shooting.

If there are any questions, I'll ask "would he rather have been shot by my pink 1914A4? How about my .475 Linebaugh revolver? Maybe he would prefer my .458 SOCOM AR pistol?"

If they understand that you are a collector and have all manner of effective and 100% legal guns, they will realize that you have the gun because you like guns, not because you were hoping to shoot someone.

Now if you have one gun and it seemed like you were looking to get in to dangerous situations, it might look worse with Punisher grips. If I were on the jury all it would do is give me a slight negative impression because I like some nice CNC Micarta, Ivory or exotic wood grips on a 1911.

Well if that was the scenario Casey Anthony would be in prison but it's about FACTUAL LAW NOT OPINIONS AND "TRYING TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE JURY." If it's a good shoot it doesn't mean crap what's on your weapon. That's the job of your lawyer to make sure the evidence put forward is factual and pertinent.

Yeah, that's how I feel about it. Of course, I'm not putting Punisher grips on my guns. If any of you remember the recent article/blog/whatever it was on Rick Perry and what he carried for jogs (LCP with Crimson Trace, loaded with JHPs) and it made it sound like he was carrying an assault weapon.
