    Punisher emblems on firearms?

While the Punisher is undoubtedly a bad MoFo and a great movie, does anyone really think this is a smart emblem to put on a firearm you may end up using for self defense? I wonder if people think far enough ahead in their so-called "SHTF" fantasies to the inevitable litigation and court time that follows a shooting.

Imagine a non-gun enthusiast jury looking at your all black ninja pistol with the Punisher grips and Punisher magazine floor plates and how easy it would be for them to form the opinion that you were just itchin' to dish out some Punisher type vigilante justice to some bad guy. DUMB.

so by your logic, if i put hello kitty or care bears on my defense gun, the jury will think i'm a happy sane person that wouldn't hurt a fly and i would get off easily?

it reminds me my buddies suzuki samurai with 38" tires and over 14" of total lift. his license plate read 'LGLIMIT'

If I have to shoot someone, I don't care. It is either a legit shoot or not.

This thread will become controversial really fast but, in a jury trial I would think that everything would come into question. Having a modified weapon with punisher signs or other "graffiti" engraved embossed on it could be seen as overkill to the lay person. anyone that has to sit in front of a jury is not going to get a Jury of their "peers" for shooting someone. you are going to get moms, grandparents and people pissed off because they are not getting paid to be there by their employer and they find out you are carrying a weapon with a trigger job, ported barrel, laser sights, etc.. and some "crazy" symbol from some violent movie and they start to think you where looking for someone to "blow away". We live in a very liberal state with a population that has skewed thinking. I would leave my LTC weapons mostly stock and clean to help my case anyway I could.

The only concern I have with having logo's like the Punisher skull on my firearms, is if some idiot or kid looks at it and thinks it's a toy (even worse if they manage to get a hold of said firearm and tries to play with it). I'd sooner smack their hands off of it before they do that though.

Sometimes I think I am the only one who prefers completely unadorned(with the obvious exception of the SN) guns.

This x 100. I don't even do trigger jobs on my EDC weapons. Just LOTS of ammo.

Meh, if your up before a jury, I think you've got bigger problems... Like, its either a good shoot or not.

My dust cover has a coiled rattlesnake and American flag. I've seen some that say, SUPRISE COCK ***!, or COME AND TAKE IT! How would you like that shown to a jury of housewives and office drones? Or hello kitty or other cartoon characters, you might get sued by Sanrio... You might get run over by a bus or hit by lightning too...

I guess everyone has there own level of comfort with gun issues, but I can say that living in California seems to make gun owners over sensitive, touchy and paranoid. At least thats how I feel a lot of the time.

My friends in free states dont understand, they also have a very little knowledge of gun laws in their state, because it never comes up. You see a gun, you buy it. Weather in a parking lot or a gun show or in a shop, silly engravings or otherwise... while I can recite the CA PC, memorize lists of banned features, and cite court cases and precedent..
I spend more time reading than shooting, and I am more like a lawyer than a gun owner, and it disgusts me.

The whole point is, fear, uncertanty and doubt are what the bed wetting nanny overlords are counting on. Keep that in mind, and get whatever you damn well want on your gun (see PC for exemptions )

If it goes to trial, anything that can be construed as negative will be and IMO this goes beyond just the firearm itself. I think a lot of the potential grief you will face will defend on the district attorney in the county you live in. It shouldn't but it does. In fact I think last year around April, the Armed Citizen Network ran a very long article about a fairly clean shoot in AZ that went horribly wrong. Ultimately the guy was found innocent but I think it went to two trials and I'm sure countless sleepless nights and lots of money.

I asked an attorney once who was a gun enthuasist. Their general response was the best case scenario would be you having fired one shot on a completely stock and leagal weapon.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.
