That's the right answer. When CA starts recognizing other states' CWFLs or allows non-residents to apply for CA permits is when Californians can be justifiably outraged over other states' rules. Other states are certainly more gracious than California on this issue. There are even some that recognize the CA permit which is even more mind boggling since CA recognizes no others.

Yes their State their rules. However, there does not appear to be anything in the statute that says they won't accept a CA CCW.
((13-3112.(N)(7). A valid current or expired concealed weapon, firearm or handgun permit or license that is issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state and that has a training or testing requirement for initial issuance.)
So they are not following the rules. Kind of like some of the Counties in CA.
My CA CCW course fulfills the AZ requirement. Perhaps if a syllabus of the course was forwarded to AZ DPS they would consider it. Couldn't hurt to try.Comment

This is great! But there is just one "little" problem...
There is NO APPLICATION for obtaining an Arizona CCW. There is the renewal application (at the very top), but no regular CCW application.
[QUOTE]Forms - Concealed Weapons & Permits
Below is a complete list of applicable Concealed Weapons printable forms. Please print the desired form(s), fill out the form with black ink, sign, and then return to DPS using the enclosed directions.
Anyone have a "regular application" for Arizona?Forms - Complete List
- CCW Permit Renewal Application
- Change Name / Address / Lost / Stolen / Damaged / Non-receipt of Permit / Error on Permit
- CCW Instructor Application
- CCW Renewal Instructor Application
- CCW Instructor Change of Contact Information
- Training Course-Organization Application
- Training Organization Application
- Training Organization Information Change Form
- Training Roster Form (sample)
- LEOSA Application
- LEOSA Instructor Application
- LEOSA Instructor Change Notice

I think it's because they've designed it so you do a CCW course in AZ, and you get all the application materials at the end. You can request an application, but you'll need to contact AZ DPS. It seems like most any training will now get you a CCW. I think I can probably get one with my 2 other CCWs + NRA basic.

You need to send an e-mail to DPS and request one. They will send an application, two fingerprint cards, and instructions. You should get a package in the mail a few days after your requestComment

Hey Seat, I called them directly, spoke to a nice lady named Margi. She put two Non-res CCW packets in the mail for me.
Here be the info:
Call (800) 256-6280
- Talk with Margi or Donna
- Request a non-resident CCW application packet
They are taking my DD214 as firearms training proof. Also going to give them a copy of my retirement orders. Maybe my POST cert's too. Load them up with the whole kit and caboodle.Last edited by epilepticninja; 06-16-2011, 6:03 PM.Former political prisoner who escaped on 9-24-23.Comment

I just got notice that my application is on the way.
A slap in the face to us would be denying our applications. Their state, their rules.
Ok... You want to make sense of their policy?
I have two questions for you;
1. Does CA recognize other states' or AZ's ccw permit?
2. Can an AZ ccw holder apply (through the mail or otherwise) for and get a CA ccw permit?
This is not the right answer, WE are not the lawmakers of California, and WE should not have some unreasonable restriction that makes some of us have to spend more money when our current CA CCW permits already qualify under arizona state law. Yes, it's great that AZ is basically giving these away with minimal training requirements. No, it's not OK for them to not follow their own laws because they don't like California. The government works for the people, not just some of them. Don't forget that....Comment

Typical CA behavior. Don't like that you can't flaunt your CA ccw? Send 'em a copy of your Utah or Oregon permit. Problem solved.
Or better yet... How about emailing states that don't recognize your CA ccw? Then you'd save a ton of $$$ and convince them your CA card is worth something outside CA.Last edited by tonelar; 06-14-2011, 10:59 PM.sigpicComment

What? The only thing I could find for SB1070 is something about immigration. How is that relevant?

Don't forget that.I agree with both you and Big but I always tell people I know that run into "problems" [either fix it or shut the front up!] the point here is, your trying to get something from the state in this case a CCW so why does it matter if you have to take road "A" or road "B" to get it? Yes our laws and procedures are f'd up so if you dont like these procedures then try to change them and if you dont want to do that then just take road "B"Typical CA behavior.
